Fans of the dynamic relationship between Mystique (Raven/Jennifer Lawrence) and Beast (Hank McCoy/Nicholas Hoult) in 2011′s “X-Men: First Class” might have been a bit disappointed by last summer’s sequel “X-Men: Days of Future Past” — since the film jumps around between decades and focuses on a plethora of characters, the two former lovebirds don’t really get a chance to interact.
However, when Hoult sat down with MTV News to discuss his latest film “Young Ones,” he quickly shut down the rumor mill by letting us know that there were some juicy scenes shot with his real-life ex, they just happened to hit the cutting room floor.
“There were another couple of scenes which got cut, because they didn’t work technically in terms of the geography of how the movie played out in the end,” Hoult said. “Why [Mystique and Beast] would be here — when the world is about to end — and then we’ve nipped home quickly to have a good night’s sleep. Everyone was like, ‘well, we can’t really do that.’ So there were a couple of extra scenes which got cut, unfortunately.”
Bummer! But don’t give up on those bright blue babies just yet — according to Hoult, 2016′s “X-Men: Apocalypse” might pay more attention to that unfortunately neglected relationship.
“I think they’ll try and figure out a way to develop it more in the next one,” he concluded.
“X-Men: Days of Future Past” is out on DVD and Blu-ray on October 14.
