Freddy Krueger, Hannibal Lector And More Villians Get Designer Makeovers

If you’ve ever wondered what your favorite horror movie villains would look like all dolled up in designer threads, artist David Murray has answered that question with a handful of sketches. Considering halloween and fashion go way back—like all the way to the dawn of it, since clothes are what make up a costume—it was only a matter of time until an artist merged the two in this kind of way.

First, David outfitted Frankenstein in Juun J, which is a perfect designer to have chosen because not only do they design for broader shoulders, there’s always been a spooky undercurrent to their collections.

Pennywise, the psycho clown from Stephen King’s 1990 film It, was a natural fit for Moschino’s fast food-themed, McDonald’s-riffing collection. If Ronald McDonald was a real person, he’d be out there weeping right now.

As for one of the most well-known Halloween super villains—Jason Vorhees from Friday the 13th—David dressed him in a Hood By Air hockey jersey-like long-sleeve tee to match his hockey mask. Well played.

A few other obvious choices? Leatherface in master leather-manipulator Rick Owens, Hannibal Lecter wearing mask-loving Walter Van Beirendonck, Michael Myers in a Dries Van Noten anorak, and Freddy Krueger wearing a look by anti-pretty designer Junya Watanabe.

You can check them all out on David’s site and, just sayin’, if you need a reason to wear your HBA jersey on Halloween, you have a new option.
