Mariah Carey was rushed to the hospital in New York City Sunday night after dislocating her shoulder during a music video shoot.
Carey was shooting the music video for a remix of her single “#Beautiful,” which is being directed by her husband Nick Cannon. The New York Post reports that she was taken from the shoot, which occurred at Avenue and Artichoke Pizza in Chelsea, but she is recovering quickly.
“She was taken to hospital late last night, where doctors reset her shoulder,” Carey’s rep Cindi Berger said. “She is fine and is recovering at home.”
Carey originally recorded “#Beautiful” with Miguel. The music video was for a version she recorded with rapper Young Jeezy. The single is her first from the forthcoming album The Art of Letting Go.
All jokes aside, Carey has made a few graceful moves lately, including her departure from “American Idol” after just one season, and her exit from the roster of manager Randy Jackson, her fellow “Idol” judge. She also made an appearance in Lee Daniels’ upcoming film, formerly “The Butler,” about a black man who worked at the White House for more than three decades. She plays the man’s mother when he was a boy.
Carey is set to perform on July 13 at a free concert in Central Park’s Great Lawn in partnership with Major League Baseball. She evidently will still be performing at the event, which is being held to raise funds for Hurricane Sandy Relief. According to a source who spoke to the Post, “She will perform, but it is likely she will have her arm in a sling.”
