‘Godzilla’ Remake Poised To Destroy San Diego Comic-Con

SAN DIEGO — One of the reasons that San Diego Comic-Con has grown so enormous in the past few years is that the studios realize that the show is direct line to the most passionate fans, and an impressive showing in Hall H can all but guarantee good buzz. That’s exactly what Warner Bros. hopes to achieve with “

A new poster showing just a portion of Godzilla’s tail and a piece of concept art featuring the monster attacking an aircraft carrier are now online, but the buzz in San Diego around the remake began even earlier.

The big green lizard has been all over San Diego in the days leading up to Comic-Con. A warehouse across from the convention center stands scarred with enormous claw marks, and a viral campaign online teased “something” heading toward the west coast.

As MTV Geek reported earlier in the week, that warehouse holds an immersive experience and museum for fans who want to live through a Godzilla attack themselves and explore the storied history of the movie icon. You can head over to MTV Geek to read their entire report from the Godzilla Experience.

The new poster for “Godzilla” tells us a number of things about the movie, even if it doesn’t appear to be showing much. First of all, Godzilla is big. All you have to do is compare the tail to the surrounding helicopters to see that. Secondly, the design hews much closer to the monster’s original design than what we saw in the remake starring Matthew Broderick. The same can be seen in the concept art, which shows off the creatures back scales.

Saturday will be the big day for “Godzilla.” That’s when the cast featuring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, and Bryan Cranston and director Gareth Edwards will take the stage in Hall H to show the world their “Godzilla.” They’ll also be stopping by MTV Comic-Con Live to sit down with Josh Horowitz for an interview, so be sure to check back with us then and throughout San Diego Comic-Con.
