Lady Gaga‘s ARTPOP may be almost two months away, but you may want to start get your outfit ready now: she says it’s going to be a non-stop party.
“It’s my intention for you to have a really good time,” Gaga told KIIS FM Tuesday night. “I designed it for it to be fun from start to finish, like a night at the club in terms of the DJing aspect of it. When you listen to it, it really flows nicely. It’s really fun to pop in with your friends. I really wrote it for me and my friends to pop in from start to finish.”
She continued, ” ‘Applause’ is the last song [on there]. We put that out first so you have lots of time to learn the lyrics so when you’re completely inebriated by the end of the album, the first time you listen to it, you, at least, know how to sing the last song.”
Gaga did have some bad news for Little Monsters hoping for more than one ARTPOP disc to spin at their upcoming house parties. She confirmed that it won’t be more than one album. “Well it’ll just be one release the first time, but again it comes with an [ARTPOP] app for free,” she explained. “The app actually has games on it. The games are free and the music helps to make the games more fun.”
In addition to the KIIS FM interview, Gaga opened up a bit about on Twitter on Wednesday (September 18), sharing what inspired the track. “I believe in show business. The ‘Applause’ is what breeds that thing that I love. When I know i’ve made you happy. When I know it was good,” she wrote, after addressing that while she’s a member of “celebrity” culture she also considers herself as an “artist” first.
During her chat with KIIS, Gaga also shared how she recently re-listened to her 2011 album, Born This Way. “I just love re-experiencing albums after you make them. It’s hard of me to experience it right after I make it ’cause I’m just living it every day. So once I changed a little bit and then I go back and listen to something I’m able to really perceive how messed up it is,” she said. “People think I’m messed up maybe or think I’m on drugs or whatever people think of me but I’m just a creative person.”
