Cee Lo Pleads Not Guilty To Drug Charges In Los Angeles

Cee Lo Green has been charged with a felony count of furnishing a controlled substance by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, stemming from an incident that occurred last July in a downtown L.A. restaurant.

In a statement released Monday (October 21), the D.A.’s Office alleges that Green “slipped ecstasy to a 33-year-old female while the two were dining” sometime between July 13 and 14, 2012, then later went back to the woman’s hotel room, where she awoke to find herself naked in bed. According to several reports, LAPD investigated those claims — which Green denied to TMZ — though the singer and star of NBC’s “The Voice” was never charged with any sex-related crime.

In their statement, the D.A.’s Office said that “Prosecutors declined to file a charge of rape of an intoxicated person, citing insufficient evidence.”

On Monday afternoon, Green was formally arraigned at the Foltz Criminal Justice Center, where he pleaded not guilty to the felony charge, according to the Los Angeles Times. Prosecutors in the case asked Judge Shelly Torrealba to set his bail at $30,000. If convicted of the felony count, he could face up to four years in state prison.

A spokesperson for Green did not respond to MTV News’ request for comment on the charge, nor did a rep for “The Voice.”
