Even One Direction Say They’re Playing Favorites On Midnight Memories

While One Direction certainly put in grunt work for their first two albums &#8212 you don’t create chart-topping tracks in one afternoon studio session &#8212 Midnight Memories is very much their album. Producer Julian Bunetta has said Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson were “involved in every step of it, [from] the lyrics down to the mix,” which is why, this time around, each song is something like their own child.

And while they appreciate every song in its own special way — from raucous the to the more reflective — the guys can’t help that they do have their favorites on their third album.

When MTV News caught up with the guys at their iHeartRadio album release party in Los Angeles, we found out what those favorites are.

And much like the thousands and thousands of fans who got super emotional watching its tender video, Harry says he has a certain soft spot for “Story of My Life.”

“I think it’s a bit more of a mature song than what we usually do,” he told us on Friday (November 22). “It conveys what the video’s about and what the song’s about: The story of us.”

Liam Payne on to add “You and I” and “Little White Lies” to the list of favorites, while Louis Tomlinson picked “Midnight Memories” and Niall Horan chose “Strong.” And since Directioners can’t seem to get enough of their already-released singles, it looks like they’re in for some pleasant surprises when Midnight Memories is released on Monday.

But before then, the guys are getting you fully prepared Saturday with 1D Day, a seven-hour worldwide live stream hosted by the guys themselves. Starting at 2 p.m. ET on YouTube and Google plus, the guys will be partying with guests like Simon Cowell and Khloe Kardashian and crashing your Google hangouts (if you’re clever enough, that is). And MTV News will be bringing you updates all day.
