Destiny Hope Cyrus — a.k.a. Miley — started celebrating her 21st birthday early this a.m. and we were shocked … by how tame her partying has been thus far. Yup, she started 21 off not with a twerk, but with a whimper — from her adorable dogs eager for snuggles.
Cyrus turned the big 2-1 Saturday [November 23], an event that MTV will be celebrating today with programming dedicated to the outrageous star. It all starts with the premiere of a brand-new special, “21 Candles: Miley’s MTV Moments” at 12 p.m. ET/PT, and continues with a re-airing of her documentary, “Miley: The Movement Deluxe Edition,” plus tons more fun.
Throughout the day, fans who tweet birthday wishes using the hashtag #HappyBirthdayMiley or post Instagram video messages will have the chance to be featured on MTV throughout Cyrus’s on-air birthday party.
Cyrus took to Twitter last night to kick off the celebration, her tweets proving that in some ways, famous people are just like us average, slowly aging slobs. Allow us to explicate:
01. They Celebrate With Their Families
Miley tweeted this adorable Halloween throwback photo of her fam Friday night. Her princess attire is a much more demure choice than this year’s Lil Kim getup, don’t you think? Oh, memories.
02. They Get Stoked On Gifts
Granted, most us have to pretend to be excited about those hand-knit socks Aunt Mabel mailed over. Miley sent personal props to Marc Jacobs himself. Po-tay-toe, po-tah-toe.
03. Sometimes They Just Wanna Crash At Home
It appears — at least according to Twitter — that Miley did not hit the clubs all night to celebrate her newly minted legal status. If this pic of her pups snoozing is any indication, instead she hit the hay early with more than a few bedfellows.
Granted, it’s only just the beginning of Miley’s b’day celebration. And, given the racy cake she procured for ex-beau Liam Hemsworth last year, we expect that come midnight tonight, matters will have become appropriately twerktastic. So until then, we wait … Happy Birthday, Destiny Hope!
