Miley Vs. Her Crying Cat: Who Was More Emotional At The AMAs?

Burglars may have stolen some of Miley’s personal items ahead of her big 21st birthday, but it was Miley Cyrus who stole yet another award show when she gave the final performance at the 2013 American Music Awards Sunday night (November 24).

After igniting controversy at the VMAs with her twerktastic performance of “We Can’t Stop” and lighting up a joint at the EMAs earlier this month, the (now) 21-year-old singer may have put on one of most mature performances to date.

Besides the kooky background featuring a cat mouthing the words and crying (which perfectly matched MIley’s two-piece kitty bikini), her performance wasn’t at all crazy. In fact, it was all kind of touching.

Instead, Miley let the emotion of the song and her powerhouse vocals do all the work. In fact, much like the cat, Miley also got a bit emotional herself, seeming to fight back tears during the song.

And, the performance left its mark on the room. “I was really going hard with the ‘Wrecking Ball’ thing,” Taylor Swift shared when she took the stage to accept her trophy for Artist of the Year right after Miley’s performance.

Earlier on Sunday, one day after her official birthday, she tweeted out a photo of a partially eaten, rainbow-colored cake, as well as a giant multi-colored floral “M.” And by show time, she was ready to keep the celebration going, partying backstage at the AMAs with pal Kelly Osbourne.

Though, in true Miley style, the party is hardly over. She will reportedly hit up Hollywood hotspot Beacher’s Madhouse in the Roosevelt Hotel after the AMAs.
