Family and friends of Philip Seymour Hoffman gathered to remember the late actor at a private wake in New York City Thursday night (February 6).
The Associated Press reports that the wake was held at the Frank E. Campbell Funeral Home. Co-stars Cate Blanchett, Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams and Josh Hamilton were all reportedly in attendance. Hoffman’s partner Mimi O’Donnell and their three children, Cooper, Willa and Tallulah, were also there to remember the Academy-Award winning actor.
Hoffman was found dead in his Greenwich Village apartment on February 2 after an apparent drug overdose. The 46-year-old was found on the bathroom floor with a needle in his arm. According to several reports, multiple bags of heroin were discovered in his apartment, labeled “Ace of Spades” and “Ace of Hearts.”
According to The New York Times, New York police arrested three men and one woman on Tuesday and recovered more than 350 bags of heroin. Detectives said they are still investigating whether they were connected to Hoffman.
A private funeral will take place Friday, with a memorial service expected later this month.
There will be a private funeral service held in N.Y. for the family and close friends of Philip Seymour Hoffman,” the actor’s representative said in a statement. “Plans are also underway for a memorial service later in the month also to be held in N.Y. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Phil’s name to two charities that were very close to his heart: The DreamYard Project and the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation. The family wishes to thank everyone for their continued support and good wishes.”
