Remember back when Kanye West and his merry band of MCs were putting out new music every Friday? Team Yeezy dubbed the concept music series G.O.O.D. Friday, and it’s about to make a comeback.
“We gotta lot of stuff coming out this year. A Lot of different features, a lot of G.O.O.D. Friday things, I got a couple more mixtapes I want to release and an album,” CyHi the Prynce told MTV News on Wednesday (February 27) when he came to New York to promote his new released Black Hystori Project mixtape.
Back in 2010, in the months leading up to Kanye’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy LP, the Chicago MC released a number of free tracks onto the Internet every Friday beginning in August. Under the G.O.O.D. Friday umbrella, Yeezy dropped tracks like “Monster,” “Lord Lord Lord” and “The Joy.” Many of the tracks also featured members of the G.O.O.D. Music roster; CyHi also played a big part appearing “So Appalled,” “Looking for Trouble” and “Christmas in Harlem.”
“I’m doing it; I’m making sure it’s coming back. Now he’s my partner long enough to where I can say, ”Ye, we doing this, we doing this and we doing this,'” CyHi said.
Last year, the Atlanta spitter spent a lot of time alongside Kanye, helping him to create on Yeezus. All that time in the studio resulted in a number of tunes that the world hasn’t heard yet.
“I wanna motivate him to do that too, because ‘Ye got a lot of stuff that I’m like, ‘Yo, no one’s ever gonna get to hear this ‘Ye,'” he said. “I hear the fans; I understand what they want from the G.O.O.D. Music family. I talked to Sean, I talked to Pusha to kinda get them to do it too, because I like those guys and lyricists and artists. I wanna hear more from them too.”
