Shailene Woodley Gets Advice From J-Law, And So Should You

Picture this: You’re a Hollywood starlet, just starting out, when the opportunity comes along to do a major motion picture franchise based on a beloved YA literary trilogy. But before you sign on, you need some Real Talk about what you’re signing up for. Who do you call?

If you said, “Jennifer Lawrence!” then you’ve made the right choice; as did Shailene Woodley, before she officially made the decision to star in “E! that she emailed J-Law for advice on the pros and cons of teen film franchises, and got some excellent feedback.

“She was like, ‘Listen, there are a few things that you should not do, like drugs and make a sex tape, or go to Whole Foods the day the movie opens, but it’s gonna change your life in so many positive ways. Definitely do it,” Woodley said.

Needless to say, Shailene took that advice, and rightly so since Jennifer Lawrence is a virtual treasure trove of information on all manner of subjects. In light of her useful tips on the ups and downs of stardom, let’s look back on J-Law’s history of advice.

On being in love, in public:
“You don’t want your relationship to be in the press, but at the same time, and this is only a theory, the more you try to keep it secret, the more the media tries to crack it open.”

On narrow beauty standards:
“You look how you look, so be comfortable. What are you going to do, be hungry every single day to make other people happy? That’s just dumb.”

On the art of french fry ordering:
“You have to remind them about ketchup, because they never include ketchup. You have to ask for it. Cheapskates.”

On gastrointestinal distress:
“You can only s— your pants so many times a day before you, like, have to go to the emergency room.”

On advice itself:
“My therapist said it would be good if for every hour, I tried to be quiet for five minutes. But I couldn’t really hear what she was saying because I was talking.”
