Chris Pine pleaded guilty to drunk driving charges in New Zealand on Monday morning (March 17), two weeks after police pulled him over following a wrap party for the “Star Trek” actor’s upcoming movie, “Z for Zachariah.”
According to People, Pine was fined $79 and had his New Zealand driver’s license suspended for six months during the hearing in Ashburton District Court. Pine, 33, landed there after getting pulled over on March 1 and he told officers he’d had four vodka drinks at the “Zachariah” cast party.
A test showed that Pine’s blood-alcohol level was 0.11 percent, which is just over the country’s legal limit of 0.08 percent. During the hearing, Pine was silent while his lawyer entered the plea and told the judge the actor acknowledged he’d made a mistake in driving that night. The lawyer also said that Pine had suffered emotionally and professionally and that the negative publicity could impact some of his future acting gigs.
Following the arrest, the bar where the party was held, the Blue Pub in Methven, released a statement in which it said that Pine “did not appear to staff to be intoxicated to a level where intervention might have been warranted.”
In addition to “Zachariah,” Pine is will be seen later this year alongside Johnny Depp, Meryl Streep and Anna Kendrick in the big-screen adaptation of playing Cinderella’s Prince.
