The 2014 MTV Movie Awards are less than a month away, so what better way to get everyone excited than to take a trip down memory lane and relive arguably one of the greatest moments in Movie Awards history?
Yes, there are a ton of memorable moments, from Eminem getting a face full of booty courtesy of Sacha Baron Cohen to Tom Cruise’s character Les Grossman getting his groove on with J. Lo.
However, there is only one memory that will forever tug on our heartstrings, and that is the moment in 2005 when Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams won Best Kiss and sealed their win with, well, just about one of the sexiest kisses of all time.
The real-life couple (at the time; seriously, why can’t they just get back together?) won the Golden Popcorn for their unforgettable rain-soaked lip-lock in “The Notebook.” The two stars got up to accept the award but then walked to opposite sides of the stage, making us wonder what they could possibly be up to. With Maroon 5’s “She Will Be Loved” playing in the background (perfect), McAdams stripped off her jacket as Gosling gave her his oh-so-sexy look as he called her to come to him. The two begin walking toward each other and meet up as Rachel jumps into his arms and they reenact the super-steamy “Notebook” kiss.
The crowd of A-listers, including a very excited Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan, who mouthed “Oh my God,” looked on in excitement, disbelief and most likely a little bit of jealously because, really, who wouldn’t want to be kissing Ryan Gosling?
Ryan then carried Rachel over to the podium, where they accepted their award and he told the crowd, “It was my pleasure.” No Ryan, it was ours.
