T.I. gave fans a taste of his comedic acting chops in last year’s “Identity Thief,” and the Atlanta native is about return in a major way.
The rapper is set to join comedy heavyweights Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart in the upcoming “Get Hard,” according to Deadline. The Hustle Gang head has been cast as Joaquin, Hart’s cousin in the film, which tells the story of Ferrell’s millionaire character preparing to head to prison with the help of Hart.
Tip has been busy on the small screen of late, too. He’s been featured as a recurring character on this season of “House of Lies,” on Showtime, and his VH1 reality show, “T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle,” will premiere its fourth season next week.
Though the acting seems to be picking up momentum, the rapper certainly doesn’t have plans to leave the music behind. Late last year, he told MTV News he’s hard at work on his new album.
“All I’ma say is, it’s gonna be a motion picture, it’s gonna be a theatrical-worthy title,” T.I. said on “RapFix Live,”in December. “Something that will definitely seem instant classic. I’m thinking [a title] like Trap Champion, Paperwork, but whatever it is the subtitle will be ‘The Motion Picture.’ “
As for the actual upcoming motion picture, “Get Hard” is slated for a 2015 release.
