‘Walking Dead’ Finale Fallout: Three Series Regulars Added For Season Five

It looks like Terminus is here to stay — for now.

Three cast members have been upgraded from recurring guest stars to full-fledged series regulars for season five of Among the promotions: Rosita actress Christian Serratos, late of “Twilight,” and “Greek” actress Alanna Masterson, who plays Glenn’s new friend, Tara.

Tara’s upgraded role isn’t much of a surprise, given that she’s locked in Terminus with the greater “Walking Dead” cast. She brings levity and lightness to one of the bleakest show’s on television, so the promise of Tara’s continued comedic notes is one we happily accept.

As for Rosita, it makes sense for the show to commit to the only one of the Abraham and Eugene group who wasn’t already a series regular. Looks like she’ll continue winning the award for most inappropriately dressed character on “The Walking Dead,” at least for a portion of season five.

The third of the new “Walking Dead” series regulars, however, is a bit of a surprise: Andrew J. West, who made his debut during Sunday’s season finale as Terminus leader Gareth.

West’s upgraded role indicates that “Walking Dead” will remain in Terminus for the foreseeable future — or, at least, if Terminus goes down, Gareth is likely to continue on with Rick’s group, either as a prisoner or as an ally.

The show has stopped short of outright confirming the Terminus termites as cannibals, but, come on. They’re totally cannibals, and Gareth is the cannibal king. He’s the most mysterious character on “The Walking Dead” right now, reminiscent of Benjamin Linus from the “Lost” days of yore. West’s continued role on “The Walking Dead” is an intriguing prospect, because it means that some day, we could see this scene in action:

“The Walking Dead” returns in the fall.
