We fully acknowledge that today is April Fools’ Day, but there is no way we would joke about this. MTV has just announced the social category for the 2014 MTV Movie Awards, and it’s a big one.
This year, you will get to decide who takes home the Golden Popcorn for Best Character.
That’s right. It’s up to you to choose who was the greatest character in all of movie-dom in the past year, but the decision will not be an easy one.
Katniss Everdeen, Veronica Mars, Tris, Loki and Khan are all vying for your hashtags to get them to the stage of the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on Sunday, April 13.
To vote for your pick, you’ll need to include the right hashtag in your posts to Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Vine. You can put anything you want into the post, as long as it includes the right hashtag.
For Katniss, use the hashtag #votekatniss. For Veronica Mars, use the hashtag #voteveronicamars. For Tris, use the hashtag #votetris. For Loki, use the hashtag #voteloki. For Khan, use the hashtag #votekhan.
Each mention of the hashtag will be counted as a vote for the corresponding character. Voting is now officially open and will remain open throughout the show on April 13.
Voting on the rest of the categories for the 2014 MTV Movie Awards is still open, but to make your picks there, you’ll have to head over to the show page on MTV.com to decide who gets the Golden Popcorn in those categories.
