Drake’s Speech To The Kentucky Wildcats Is Proof He Should Coach

Last week, Drake rapped about college stars Johnny Manziel and Andrew Wiggins on his new song “Draft Day”. A few days later, the rapper connected with some future pros in person, as he joined the University of Kentucky men’s basketball team in the locker room following their Final Four win.

“This your story now; you made it,” Drizzy said while standing in front of the team after their 74-73 victory over Wisconsin Saturday night. “How you want the story to end? That’s it. That’s all I ever tell you. This your story. This your time. I watched it happen today. This is one of the strongest years we’ve had, for real. [Coach John Calipari] will tell you. I know. It’s your time.”

The Toronto rapper used the “we” so freely when describing the Wildcats because he’s been a fan of the team for some time now. He even coached the official Alumni Game in 2012.

Coach Cal and the players were excited to have the rap star in their corner. “You guys know Drake over there?” Calipari asked his players. “He’s the best. He’s the best. That’s my man.”

The way Drake wrapped his post-game speech was as smooth as his singing voice. “I’m excited to see the story end, ’cause I already know what’s on everybody’s mind: Trophies,” he said with a smile, referencing both the championship the team is chasing and his own latest single.

Kentucky takes on the University of Connecticut in the national championship game Monday at 9 p.m.
