Flavor Flav Pleads Guilty In Domestic Violence Case

Flavor Flav pleaded guilty on Monday (April 14) to a misdemeanor attempted battery charge.

The case stemmed from a 2012 incident in his Las Vegas home in which the Public Enemy rapper allegedly made threats against Elizabeth Trujillo and her 17-year-old son. Flav and the teen got into a scuffle, during which the hip-hop vet reportedly grabbed a knife.

The three have since reconciled, and Flav called the younger Trujillo his son in court today, according to the Associated Press. “I love my son and my son loves me, too,” he told the judge.

Though the charges, which included felony assault and child endangerment with a weapon, could have gotten the 55-year-old, born William Drayton, Jr., up to 12 years in prison, he was only sentenced to a year of informal probation and ordered to complete 12 counseling sessions by August.

Flav hasn’t skated all of his legal woes, though. In January, he was arrested in New York for driving with a suspended license — though according to the AP, he’s paying fines to resolve the case.

He is due back in court in August to ensure that he attended the counseling as sentenced.
