Miley Cyrus was apparently not up for a rebound pup. Mere weeks after her mom gave her a new dog to replace recently deceased pet Floyd, she has decided to give the newbie, Moonie, away.
“Moonie, thank you for giving me so much love, comfort, & peace,” Cyrus posted to Twitter recently, along with a photo of her and the pup. “It’s just to soon for me right now #missingmoonie.”
When a fan asked what happened to the pooch, Cyrus replied: “my friends mom who has a tiny pup 4 him 2 play with Molly After wht happened Im scared 2 have a tiny dog.”
Mom Trish gifted Moonie to Cyrus after her favorite dog, Floyd, was killed by a coyote.
Even then, the singer seemed more than a little ambivalent about moving on too soon from her past pup, tweeting, “I was/still kinda am torn about Moonie bc I would do anything 2 hold Floyd. But I can’t. Moonie is giving me so much [love] & 1 day @ a time.”
Floyd became famous while Miley was promoting her Bangerz album, as he was featured in the “We Can’t Stop” video, on marshmallows tossed into the crowd at the 2013 VMAs, and in the form of a giant sculpture trotted out on tour.
She has recently sung tearful tributes to the sculpture, including a rendition of Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide.”
