2 Chainz dropped his sophomore album B.O.A.T.S II: Me Time last summer, and he thinks it’s time that the fans got some new music. That will arrive in the form of a new EP called Freebase on May 5.
The EP will include five brand new songs.
“It has been a minute since the release of my album B.O.A.T.S II: Me Time and I wanted to give something special to my fans while I record my follow up album,” 2 Chainz said of the new project. “This is a taste of what is to come, and is most importantly, for them.”
Tity Boi wanted to get fans involved in the project as much as possible, so he used the #Freebase hashtag to collect covert art submissions on Instagram, eventually narrowing down over 10,000 choices to just four. The winning artwork features a photo of Richard Pryor rocking 2 Chainz’s signature double necklaces.
There’s no tracklist for the EP just yet, but in the meantime you can check out the trailer above. 2 Chainz recently wrapped his 2 Good To Be T.R.U. Tour with Pusha T, which also included performances from August Alsina, A$AP Rocky and French Montana.
