Jenny McCarthy and Donnie Wahlberg are making it official!
On Wednesday (April 16), McCarthy announced her big news on her show, “The View,” happily proclaiming “I just got engaged!” as she proceeded to jump around the set.
The bride-to-be proudly showed off her massive yellow sapphire rock and tearfully revealed to the audience how the New Kids On the Block singer — with the help of her 11-year-old son Evan Asher — popped the big question.
“This weekend I was sitting with Donnie and he went into the other room and out came Evan with a card that said ‘Will.’ And he ran away and came back with a card that said ‘You,’ and I knew what was happening and I just started crying. And then he came out with a card that said ‘Marry,’ but it was spelled ‘Mary,’ and the last time Donnie came out with Evan and Evan’s shirt said ‘Me?’ and he was holding the ring,” she said, clearly getting emotional.
“He asked, ‘Will you marry me?’ I of course said yes. And in that moment, Evan yelled, ‘I have another dad! I have another dad.’ And it was just — it made all of us cry. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world. He’s so wonderful.”
Shortly after, the boy band vet came out on set to the surprise of his fiancée, and showered her with hugs and kisses, making everyone in the audience and at home tear up.
McCarthy, who began dating Wahlberg last summer, admitted that she and her fiancé don’t yet know when they’ll walk down the aisle, but added, “We’re thinking of having an August wedding or maybe stretching it out a year.” This prompted co-host Barbara Walters to offer her New York City apartment as a possible wedding venue.
The newly engaged McCarthy had hinted that she would be breaking big news on the show Wednesday, taking to Twitter urging fans to watch the show since it was going to be “a goooood one.”
This will be the second marriage for both McCarthy and Wahlberg.
