Mack Wilds’ new video for was inspired by hip-hop clips from the mid-90s, when labels like Bad Boys would gather the whole crew to ham it up in front of the camera. More specifically, it was inspired by Craig Mack’s “Flava in Ya Ear (Remix),” which was released in 1994.
That much is clear, as the video opens with the Staten Island singer knocking a pair of glass bottles together Diddy-style, before the beat drops and he’s surrounded by a gaggle of scantily clad women.
“I remember being a kid watching that video and being like, ‘That’s what hip-hop looks like,'” Mack told MTV News on the video set last month.
In terms of label mates, Mack Wilds isn’t rolling as deep as Diddy and Craig Mack were back in the day, but he did hit up a few famous friends to join him in the video. French Montana, Busta Rhymes and Mobb Deep and were all on deck to party with him.
The original version of “Henny” was featured on Mack’s debut album New York: A Love Story, with a sample of Mobb Deep’s 2001 single “The Learning (Burn).”
