The trailer for “The Rover,” starring Robert Pattinson and Guy Pearce, is here. It’s the latest film from director David Michôd, and it’s a post-apocalyptic crime drama. Pattinson plays Rey, a young gang member abandoned by his pals after he’s injured (harsh, guys. Way harsh.). He meets Eric (Pearce), who, conveniently, is searching for that very same gang after they steal from him. Watch yourself, gang members — guy looks pissed.
The trailer for the movie, which will screen at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival in May, features all of the following: incomprehensible accents, several bleak and dramatic taglines that seem likely suspects for t-shirts worn at a poetry slam (“the center cannot hold,” for example), Pattinson huddled under a blanket and Pearce scowling. A lot. If you’re looking for plenty of scowls and dramatic music, look no further.
If you’re looking for an excuse not to visit post-law Australia, well, that’s in the trailer too. It doesn’t look like quite the sun-soaked vacation we’ve always pictured when thinking about the Land Down Under.
In addition to the new trailer, character posters for the flick were just released. Check them out:
We’re looking forward to getting our serious on with our ol’ pal Edward, so the film’s release can’t come soon enough.
“The Rover” is due in theaters June 20. Scoot McNairy and Gillian Jones co-star.
