50 Cent has never been the biggest Diddy fan and Puff’s new single won’t do anything to change that.
“Puff still out there, he don’t even need a record, ’cause he don’t got one,” 50 said to Baltimore’s 92Q Jams this week. “You know Puff ain’t got no music that you want to hear, that ‘Big Homie’ sh– is garbage.”
Fif, who is on a promo run to amp up his June 3 Animal Ambition album, didn’t just offer up his opinion — the comment came after he was speaking with radio hosts AJ and AngelBaby about longevity in rap.
“If the guy doesn’t have a significant savvy with the actual business or the actual culture, he’ll be out of here. You’ll see [Jay Z] around along as he’s been around. What he’s on like 11 albums,” 50 said after he was asked if there was an “expiration date” on his own career.
The G-Unit boss then turned his attention toward Diddy, whom he has no problem criticizing through the years. In 2006, 50 Cent dropped “Hip-Hop,” a mixtape track where he called Diddy “soft” for not retaliating in the aftermath of the Notorious B.I.G.’s murder in 1997. At the end of the song he went on about his failed deal with former Bad Boy artist Ma$e.
The two collaborated on a number of tracks, including Fif’s 2007 “I Get Money” remix, but that has never stopped 50 from going at the Bad Boy CEO.
“I’ma keep it all the way real with you, because the guy said, ‘Don’t worry about if I write rhymes, I write checks’ and then sings to you,” 50 told 92Q Jams referencing Puff’s standout line from his 2001 single “Bad Boy For Life.” “This is why we got rid of Mili Vanilli.”
