The lineup of artists performing at Governors Ball this weekend is top-notch, no question about it. And there’s still a majority of the festival yet to go down — with full schedules on both Saturday (June 7) and Sunday — but having spent Friday out on Randall’s Island, we know there’s more to do than just watch your favorite bands.
In fact, you can even do this stuff while still listening to your favorite bands — just from a little further away.
Free Water Stations
Just bring a bottle up, and cold water is yours for the taking. Remember, hydration is key in this kind of setting.
This Mural Of Biggie
There are a bunch of eye-popping art installations throughout the grounds.
A Weird Gummy Bear
Uhh, sure?
Lawn Games
What’s better than a little cornhole on a sunny June afternoon?
The Silent Disco
Haven’t decided what’s more fun: Watching a bunch of people dancing recklessly to seemingly no music (because they’re all wearing headphones listening to their own music), or actually being one of those people.
The Statue Of Liberty’s Shoulders and Head
Whether you’re in from out of town for the weekend or a local New Yorker who has never made it to the Statue of Liberty (yes, looking at you, basically every New Yorker reading this), this will do until you get your act together.
Free Ice Cream
DO NOT BE LIKE ME. DO NOT MISS THE FREE BEN & JERRYS ICE CREAM UNTIL IT’S CLOSED AND YOU’RE PASSING IT WHILE BARELY MOVING IN A MOB OF PEOPLE. WHO CARES HOW LONG THE LINE WAS BEFORE. NOW THERE IS NO LINE. BECAUSE IT’S CLOSED.
