J. Cole has added some firepower to his team.
The North Carolina rapper, who struck a partnership earlier this year with Interscope Records for his Dreamville Records, has signed Cozz to the imprint. The South Central, Los Angeles native posted a picture of himself, wearing a “Dreamville” hat and with a pen in hand earlier this week, and his management confirmed the move to MTV News on Thursday (June 26).
Cole sent a tweet on Thursday evening announcing the move.
Bas, who became Dreamville’s first signing earlier this year, also welcomed Cozz to the team on Twitter.
Cozz appeared on an episode of “RapFix Live” earlier this year, where other guests included Yo Gotti and Snootie Wild. He was featured in the “Get in the Game” segment, where the rappers gave feedback on his video. You can watch below, beginning at the 40-minute mark.
Cozz’s debut release, Cozz & Effect, is set to drop this summer.
