With the fourth season of “Game of Thrones” officially complete, much has been made of the human characters we won’t be seeing until next year. But while we were saying goodbye to the Lannisters, the Starks, the Tyrells, and so on, some very important personalities got totally overlooked: the furry, flying, four-legged ones.

It’s an awful oversight, and it just won’t do. So today, let’s put aside the people of Westeros and pay homage to six terrific “Game of Thrones” characters from the animal kingdom. Who are on our list of favorites?

1. Ghost, the direwolf

Jon Snow’s faithful, furry friend has been instrumental in keeping our favorite bastard safe from harm. Plus, he’s saved Samwell Tarly’s life, like, at least three times.

2. Drogon, the dragon

Possibly because he’s trying to compensate for being apparently named after drunk Adam Sandler trying to pronounce the word “dragon,” Drogon is the fiercest, fieriest, all-around-bestest winged beastie in Westeros. Four goats for you, Drogon the dragon! You go, Drogon the dragon!

3. Silver, the horse

We don’t know a whole lot about the history or inner life of Daenerys Targaryen’s beautiful silver mare, but we do know that without her, the most epic whip drop in the history of the seven kingdoms wouldn’t have been anywhere near as cool.

4. Three-Eyed Raven, the three-eyed raven

This ubiquitous bird has been a “Game of Thrones” mystery ever since he showed up in Bran’s comatose fever dreams back in season one. Now, at last, we know the truth: he’s actually not a bird at all, but rather a half-man, half-tree who masquerades as a bird in order to enter the psyche of the wee Stark.

5. Ser Pounce, the cat

Though he was on screen for less than a minute, this wily feline stole our hearts as he politely interrupted Margaery’s late-night visit to Prince Tommen’s bedroom before things got outta control. Unfortunately, HBO confirmed that Ser Pounce would not be a regular on the series, which is a damn shame; an ambitious cat like the good Ser could do very well for himself in King’s Landing.

6. Varys, the spider

Yeah, okay, so Varys isn’t a real spider. The point is, he’s better! The secret-keeping sneak of King’s Landing is 5000% creepier than an actual spider, with only 25% the legs.
