After Future And Kanye’s ‘I Won,’ Metro Boomin Is ‘Gonna Stay Around’

Metro Boomin made a splash with his production on Future and Kanye West‘s new single”I Won,” but the 20-year-old vows that this is only the start. There may even be more with Yeezy on the way.

“I’ve actually never met Kanye, but there’s lines of communication,” Metro told MTV News. “They told me about him wanting to use stuff. With Kanye, you don’t even really know. We don’t have a personal relationship yet. I’m sure we will in the future. Everything is from a distance now. That’s how it start off.”

In addition to sending beats to Kanye, and his already released work with Future, Young Thug and more, the St. Louis native has gotten in the lab with some of rap’s other young stars.

“Me and Wale did something a year ago,” he said. “We did something hard, [but] it never came out. It was supposed to go on his album, but it really didn’t flow with the feel. We still got the song.” He added that they may link up again soon, too.

Metro, who began producing when he was 13, also made a fan of Wiz Khalifa recently. “We had a session, me, Wiz and a group out in Atlanta, Two-9, about a month ago,” he said. “Wiz pulled me to the side and saluted me on everything, told me he liked what I’d been doing and he f–ks with the movement and everything going on.”

Now, with three Future singles under his belt — “Karate Chop,” “Honest,” and “I Won” — Metro Boomin is eager to prove he’s here to stay.

“I appreciate everybody admiring ‘Karate Chop’ and stuff like that,” he said. “But now it’s like, OK, I want you to take me a little more serious. I have intentions on being here. I’m gonna be one of them ones that’s around, and that’s gonna stay around.”
