Now that True Blood‘s finished shooting its seventh and final season, Anna Paquin is no longer contractually obligated to retain Sookie’s blonde hair. The 31-year-old actress celebrated by changing up her hair in a big way. Red? Nah. Dark brown? Nope. Purple? Yep. Dark blue? Mmhm. Seafoam green? Check. She’s got it all.
Why? Simple: Anna’s teen dream was to be a mermaid. And now, it’s a reality.

Anna’s the latest hair chameleon to join the purple-hued trend. She’s joining the ranks of Nicole Richie, Kelly Osbourne and Demi Lovato among others. And while we’re loving the look, we gotta wonder, why were no mermaids worked into True Blood? We’ve already seen vampires, werewolves, witches, fairies, and other mythical creatures. No mermaid love? No matter, we’ll be #TrueToTheEnd.
