This ‘Sisters!’-Only Version Of ‘Hocus Pocus’ Will Make You Super Nostalgic

by 26 mins ago

“Hocus Pocus” has become a Halloween classic, so much so that Miley Cyrus even photoshopped herself into a poster of the movie.

There are a few reasons for the movie’s enduring popularity, from everyone’s favorite talking cat to Bette Midler and pre-”Sex and the City” Sarah Jessica Parker, but we think the biggest reason is how everyone says “Sisters!” in the movie. It’s amazing, so why not make a cut of the movie where that’s all anyone says? Yeah, you’re welcome.

See How Much The Death Star Would Cost In Real Life

by 15 mins ago

Infographic by Nick Desantis

“That’s no moon. That’s a space station.”

That’s how Obi-Wan Kenobi famously described the “ultimate power in the universe,” the Death Star. Since its introduction in 1977, the planet-destroying superweapon has made an indelible mark on pop culture, even though it, along with Lando and the Ewoks, probably won’t appear in “Episode VII.”

It’s weird, then, that we never actually learn too much about it in those movies. We know it has a tractor beam, a trench, and an exhaust port, stores some Tie Fighters, houses lots of troops, officers, and prisoners, and has a pest problem in its trash compactor.

Luckily, plenty has been written about the Death Star, so we compiled all of the data into one mega-infographic that breaks down everything you need to know about the space station, from its dimensions to the number of AT-ATs it holds (more than 1,400!) to how much it would actually cost to build in real life ($852 quadrillion dollars, which yes, is a real number).

Check it out, and become the ultimate power in the trivia universe.

‘Sharknado 3′ Is Coming To Destroy The East Coast

by 25 mins ago

If you’re a fan of intentionally bad B-movies with random celebrities from the ’90s and computer-generated sharks, this news is for you: “Sharknado 3″ is coming, according to the movie’s official Twitter account.

The first two “Sharknado” movies took place in Los Angeles and New York respectively (with the second one receiving its own video game adaptation), but apparently the third will be as sprawling as ever, encompassing the entirety of a most likely green-screened East Coast. Considering the specific callouts to DC and Orlando, I’d say that the White House and Disney World are not going to be particularly sharkless.

No D-listers looking for a paycheck casting news has been announced as of yet, though we hope that Tara Reid reprises her role as, err, “that woman played by Tara Reid” from the first two, but only if she wears her certified Sharknado perfume.

As for the plot? It hasn’t been announced, but I’m going to guess it’s about sharks who attack residents of the East Coast while traveling in some kind of super-twister.

We’ll see how close that forecast is when “Sharknado 3″ comes out in 2015.

Watch Every Single Punch From ‘Fight Club’

by 24 mins ago

Since “Fight Club” first came out fifteen years ago and vaulted Brad Pitt and Ed Norton to superstardom, pretty much everyone has violated its first rule. People still can’t stop talking about it.

But we decided to honor the David Fincher classic by showing, not telling, and came up with this hard-hitting supercut of every single punch that was thrown in the movie.

And don’t worry: we won’t tell anyone if you talk about it.

Will This Court Case Be The First Step Towards A Real Life ‘Planet Of The Apes’?

by 24 mins ago

It turns out that the primate revolution will look a lot less like “Rise of the Planet of the Apes,” and will look a lot more like “Kramer vs. Kramer.”

A landmark case was heard to determine whether or not chimpanzees have essentially the same rights as human beings.

The court case centers around Tommy, a 26-year-old chimpanzee who lives behind a trailer park in upstate New York. His living conditions, to a group called the Nonhuman Rights Project, are absolutely inhumane, as he lives in a small cage all by himself in a warehouse. The NhRP sued on behalf of Tommy, who they believed was being kept as a prisoner against his will.

If the NhRP win, Tommy would be granted “personhood.” This does not mean that all of a sudden Tommy would be human, nor does it mean he’d become a Caesar-like hyper-intelligent ape who could ride a horse and talk in a really deep voice, but he would have some of the legal protections and rights that humans enjoy, and would be released from his captivity.

Tommy, though, would not be the first animal to gain that status, as India granted dolphins similar rights last year, as “non-human persons.”

Even if the NhRP lose this case, they plan on taking it next to the New York Court of Appeals, the highest court in the state.

So what do you think? Should Tommy be given the rights of personhood? Or is this simply a ploy by the chimp-ape alliance to slowly ...

Which Hollywood Star Has Punched The Most Animals?

by 21 mins ago

There’s one thing that links Arnold Schwarzenegger, Will Ferrell, Adam West and Bruce Lee, a tradition that’s stretched across decades on the silver screen: they’ve all punched animals. The best part? You can see all of their scraps with nature in the video above.

Yes, in a pattern that’s apparently like no other in Hollywood, plenty of movies feature people fighting beasts both wild and domestic. Angelina Jolie and Adam West have both punched sharks, while Schwarzenegger, Ferrell, and Paul Rudd have all faced off against bears.

But who has it out the most for the animals? Well, it turns out that Schwarzenegger is the biggest offender, punching two camels, two dogs — in all fairness, they were attacking him — and even a reindeer. (He also kicks a crocodile, though that didn’t quite fall under the confines of the video.) Will Ferrell is very close behind him, punching both a dog and a bear.

Cats, dogs, horses, camels, sharks: no one is spared. But remember, it’s all just movie magic! No animals were actually harmed in the making of this supercut.

Why Are James Franco And Seth Rogen Naked On Instagram?

by 10 mins ago

James Franco and Seth Rogen do pretty much everything together: they make hit movies; they make incredible Kanye West parodies; and, of course, they get naked together.

The two superstar buds showed off their comfort with their birthday suits in three pictures that Franco posted on his Instagram, and they’re… well, they’re something else.

Why did they post these pictures? Most likely, they’re promotional photos for Rogen and Franco’s newest comedy “The Interview,” about the pair trying to assassinate Kim Jong-un. Or, based on Franco’s captions, like “See if me and seth can make it, NAKED and AFRAID!!!! Wtf?! You’ll see……..,” they’re teasing an all-star episode of Discovery’s series “Naked and Afraid,” which would be the best thing ever. But until we find out, at least we have these three works of art to keep us occupied.
