Watch Tom Cruise Age 30 Years In 30 Seconds

by 06/06/14

Tom Cruise isn’t just aging gracefully. He might not be aging at all.

At least that’s what it feels like. While the star of the new blockbuster “Edge of Tomorrow” certainly did some maturing between “Risky Business,” his first role, and “Top Gun,” Cruise seems to have hit a wall of aging that started in the early 90s.

Sure, he’s had some different looks: long hair, short hair, facial hair, even a retainer at one point. But his actual face? It’s pretty much the same now as it was twenty years ago.

Don’t believe us? Watch this face morphing video, which goes from early 80s Cruise to present day Cruise, because the pictures don’t lie.

Tom Cruise is an immortal.

Emily Blunt Laughed Every Time She Killed Tom Cruise In ‘Edge Of Tomorrow’

by 06/06/14

With reporting by Josh Horowitz

Usually if Tom Cruise is in an action movie, he’s going to be the one kicking ass. But that’s not entirely true with “Edge of Tomorrow.”

“We came up with the idea of my character being kind of an anti-hero, not a soldier,” Cruise told MTV News on the red carpet for the film. “A coward, and not ashamed of it either.”

So if Cruise spends a lot of the movie as a coward, who does the ass-kicking? Clearly, it’s the one and only Emily Blunt.

“Emily is the one who is a soldier,” Cruise explained, “so you have this very unique relationship.”

And Blunt didn’t just get kill a lot of invading aliens in the sci-fi actioner. She got to kill Cruise, over and over and over again.

“In many violent ways, mercilessly,” Blunt said. “It was really exciting. I would laugh after each take, just at Tom’s face, going ‘Oh c’mon.’ ”

With so many times killing arguably the biggest movie star on the planet, Blunt had to have a favorite.

“I sort of liked the casual one where I just don’t look and I just kind of shoot him like that,” Blunt said. “It’s sort of like, oh God, it’s so boring. I can’t be bothered.”

Get your fill of Blunt killing Cruise and both killing aliens in “Edge of Tomorrow,” in theaters now.

Kumail Nanjiani Offers Hints For ‘Silicon Valley’ Season 2

by 06/01/14

With Reporting By Josh Horowitz

“Silicon Valley” was renewed after only a few of its first season’s episodes broadcast, all of which were met with enormously positive reviews. As we approach the June 1 season finale, with the guys lining up for a final presentation at TechCrunch, it only makes sense to wonder what lies ahead for the entrepreneurs and programmers in season two.

Luckily, Kumail Nanjiani, who plays Danesh and has become one of the show’s breakout stars, was able to wring some info out of show creator Mike Judge.

“I was with Mike… we were hanging out late, and I asked him, ‘Hey, what plans do you guys have?’” Nanjiani told MTV News. “Very preliminary ideas they have for it, he told me three or four of them. And it’s really, really exciting.”

The show has already hit some major sitcom plotlines in its early episodes, even doing a road trip episode.

“Most sitcoms don’t do that till Season Four or Five, and we got to sort of change everything up,” Nanjiani said. “That’s how confident these guys were.”

But after a road trip episode, and even (SPOILER ALERT) a character who was kidnapped by a self-driving car, where can the show go next season?

“Season Two I think, from what I’ve heard, might continue that, again put us out of our comfort zone,” Nanjiani explained. “There’s the house, and that’s where we’re most comfortable … and then the last two episodes we go to TechCrunch, and suddenly the roof is gone and it’s all very ...

Seth MacFarlane Had To Crawl Through Sheep S–t For ‘A Million Ways To Die In The West’

by 05/31/14

Filming a Western probably isn’t as bad as actually being in the Old West, but sometimes, it might come close.

Seth MacFarlane’s new comedy “A Million Ways To Die In The West” is all about how living in the Old West is terrible. Naturally, filming that isn’t going to be a walk in the park.

“The weather was a nightmare,” MacFarlane said. “If you’re doing a Wetern and you want to capture vistas like this, Monument Valley, that’s an unfortunate part of the process.”

“There were dust storms,” Sarah Silverman added. Sometimes it got so bad that co-star Giovanni Ribisi would shout to her, “Sarah, I can’t see you!”

One scene in particular was torturous to film, especially for one person in particular.

“That one funeral scene… that was so cold that night,” Silverman said. “And there was an old lady extra, and like, we get warming jackets in between, and I felt so bad. So I was like ‘come into my jacket.’”

Silverman wryly added, “Too bad you’re not talent.”

And MacFarlane’s favorite awful part? “I love crawling through sheep s–t.”

With the dust storms, the cold, and the animal excrement, was it really worth going through all that trouble to make the movie?

“It is worth it, it looks gorgeous,” MacFarlane said. “People have said, ‘Oh the movie looks expensive,’ and it’s really not an expensive film.”

We hope for MacFarlane’s actors’ sakes that the funnyman’s next movie is set in Hawaii.

“A Million Ways To Die In The West” is in theaters now.

Hugh Jackman Showed His Butt In New ‘X-Men’ And Grossed His Kids Out

by 05/24/14

With reporting by Josh Horowitz

Dad’s butt is gross, even if it’s as well-sculpted as Hugh Jackman‘s.

Jackman had to bare it all for a scene in “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” and his son and daughter were, well, less than thrilled that they had to see their dad’s rear end on the big screen.

“Watching the movie with my daughter… of course I forgot about that scene,” Jackman told MTV News, “and I forgot what it’s like, and she was like ‘Oh dad, gross!’ ”

At least his daughter was able to speak afterward; Jackman’s son may or may not have been traumatized by the sight.

“My son was watching with six of his mates,” Jackman said. “He’s 13, almost 14, he just can’t even talk about that.”

See kids, next time you wish your dad was a movie star, just think about going to the movies and seeing his backside along with your best buds. Awk. Ward.

But for the rest of us for whom Jacmkan’s derriere is fair game, we’re just wondering what took so long to get some big-screen Wolverine nudity.

“I’ve tried to get it out there in all the other films, and they just keep cutting it out,” Jackman told us. “Maybe I just worked out harder, the tan was better.”

And since all sequels have to top their predecessors, we can expect full-frontal in “X-Men: Apocalypse,” right?

“It’s not my problem,” Jackman joked. “I think that’s a PG-13 problem.”

And his kids’ problem. Sorry ’bout that guys.

“X-Men: Days of Future Past” is in ...

You’ll Never Guess Which Show Will Influence The ‘Gilligan’s Island’ Movie

by 05/22/14

With reporting By Josh Horowitz

One of the most popular running jokes during the run of “Lost” was that the big ending twist would be a rip on “Gilligan’s Island.” And Josh Gad, who is writing a new movie based on the classic comedy (“Gilligan,” not “Lost”), knows that those are expectations audiences will have going into his reboot.

“You would be remiss not to at least touch upon that in the movie,” Gad told MTV News on a possible “Lost” connection. “And I’ll leave it at that.”

While we’re sure there won’t be smoke monsters in the new flick (well, kind of sure), Gad acknowledging the influence “Lost” has had over the simple premise that fueled “Gilligan’s Island” is just one weapon in his arsenal while updating the show.

“It’s approaching the material in a way that, again, subverts expectations,” Gad explained. “I think that if you were to deliver a traditional ‘Gilligan’s Island’ that was an extended episode of the show, people would roll their eyes.”

But how does someone take something so dated and make it new again?

“You have to look at the material from a modern perspective,” Gad said, “and we’ve certainly done that, and certainly created a world that is going to surprise a lot of people in a great way. The tone of it is very unexpected.”

The biggest surprise? They were dead the whole time! Kidding, “Lost” fanatics.

“Lost” jokes aside, Gad certainly has learned well from that show’s creator, J.J. Abrams, and is keeping the secrets of his new ...

Want A Better ‘Batman V Superman’ Title? Just Ask #BetterBatmanSuperman

by 05/22/14

The Internet went crazy yesterday when it was announced that the official title to the “Man of Steel” sequel would be “Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice.” The title inspired some debate, but, because the Internet, also some hilarious parodies.

“@midnight” was quick to jump in on those, creating the hashtag #BetterBatmanSuperman for its #HashtagWars segment. And comedians Matt Jones, Whitney Cummings, and Moshe Kasher were ready to jump all over it.

Kasher started things off with “Tights, Camera, Action,” while Jones followed with “Four Batmans and a Funeral,” though Cummings might have stolen the segment with the brilliant “Tyler Perry Presents: BatMadea Vs. SuperMadea.”

Sandra Bullock Blind Sides High School Graduation With Surprise Speech

by 05/20/14

The Class of 2014 at Warren Easton High School in New Orleans will never forget their commencement speaker.

That’s because Sandra Bullock made a surprise appearance at the group’s graduation, delivering an inspiring speech to the college-bound group.

“Stop worrying so much,” Bullock said. “I don’t remember any of the moments in my life where I worried. Go find your joy. It’s not the worry, it’s not the what-ifs. It’s the joy that stays with you.”

Bullock, who adopted the Louisiana charter school after Hurricane Katrina, actually snuck her way on stage — making sure her appearance came as a big, wonderful shock to the graduates. Her words were based on things she wished people had told her when she was younger, advice she now gives her 4-year-old son.

“Raise the bar higher,” Bullock said. “I only remember the moments where I tried beyond what I thought I could do, and I do not remember the failures because I didn’t. Nothing is a failure, it’s just not supposed to work out that way, because something better is supposed to come along.”

Bullock also said that you have to dance every day, eat something green every day, and of course, that you can’t pick your nose in public.

With her funny and inspiring speech, the Oscar winner not only made every graduate at every other high school incredibly jealous, but also ensured that the kids at Warren Easton would have even more special memories from their big day.

‘Interstellar’ Is A ‘Field Of Dreams’ Remake: Here’s Proof

by 05/16/14

Christopher Nolan is always so secretive about his movies, even shrouding his trailers in mystery. The phenomenal new trailer for “Interstellar” is no different, giving us lots of Matthew McConaughey; but not too much in the way of actual plot. So what’s the big secret?

We think we’ve figured it out: a midwestern farmer and family man with lots of corn who apparently loves baseball and is given a secret, otherworldly mission by mysterious forces?

Sounds an awful lot like “Field of Dreams” to us, and here’s the proof. You can’t fool us, Nolan.

“Interstellar” hits theaters this November.
