‘Godzilla’ Meets ‘Breaking Bad’ + 5 More Hilarious Godzilla Mash-Ups

by 05/16/14

Godzilla is more than just the King of the Monsters. He’s the King of the Mash-up.

All over the Internet, people have taken to remixing everyone’s favorite radioactive lizard in anticipation of his triumphant return to the big screen. The projects range from the obvious (“Breaking Bad,” anyone?) to the insanely weird (Godzilla song remixes), but they all show how we react to Godzilla in the Internet age.

So take a look and a listen at some of our favorite viral vids starring our favorite movie monster.

“Breaking Bad Meets Godzilla”

We mocked this one up, because it just makes sense. Bryan Cranston stars as Walter White, a chemistry teacher turned mad scientist, who accidentally creates Godzilla in his secret lab. Actually, can we see that movie? We’ll give you all the money to see that movie.

“Godzilla Park”

“Jurassic Park” Meets “Godzilla” in this mash-up, which uses the audio of the second “Godzilla” trailer and puts it over, you guessed it, clips from “Jurassic Park.” Another one that is too perfect not to make.

“Godzilla of Steel”

This trailer mash-up of “Godzilla” and “Man of Steel” should serve to remind you how much destruction there actually was in the last Superman movie, and how freakin’ scary it would be if Superman actually existed.

“Jawzilla”

The folks of Amity Island just can’t catch a break. First, they have to deal with a giant shark. Now, a giant lizard. You’re welcome for this one.

Hey, it would be better than “Jaws: The Revenge.”

The Godzilla Remix Project

Told you there were some weird ...

Peter Dinklage Acts Out All Of ‘Game Of Thrones’ In 45 Seconds: Watch

by 05/16/14

With reporting by Josh Horowitz

The Internet can never get enough of Peter Dinklage, who plays fan favorite Tyrion in “Game of Thrones“… Unless, of course, you’ve never seen “Game of Thrones.”

While at the junket for “X-Men: Days of Future Past” in New York, MTV News sat down with Dinklage, and asked him to summarize the entire series up until this point… in only 45 seconds.

Go!

“Stabby-stabby stabby-stabby, sexy-sexy, stabby-stabby, stabby,” Dinklage said. “Beautiful, beautiful language and beautiful scenes of poetry and musings on the world as we know it in King’s Landing.”

Okay, that probably takes us through about season two. What else?

“And then a couple jokes, and more stabby-stabby,” Dinklage continued.

You’ll have to watch the video to see the rest (it’s amazing), but we look forward to Dinklage’s one-man Broadway special after season four ends.

“Mockingbird,” the seventh episode of “Game of Thrones” Season 4, airs this Sunday at 9 p.m. on HBO, and you should be plenty caught up by now.

‘Million Dollar Arm’: The Reviews Are In

by 05/16/14

America’s pastime is coming to India.

That is, at least, the premise of the new movie “Million Dollar Arm,” which dramatizes the true story of JB Bernstein (Jon Hamm). In the movie, a down on his luck sports agent goes to India to find the next great baseball pitcher and get them signed. Call it “Jerry Maguire” meets “Slumdog Millionaire.”

Hamm is joined by an eclectic and talented cast, including Alan Arkin as his main baseball scout, Aasif Mandvi as his partner, Bill Paxton as a pitching coach, and Lake Bell as a med student he meets in India.

Disney has had plenty of success with inspiring true sports stories, having brought “Remember the Titans,” “The Rookie,” “Invincible” and “Miracle” to the big screen. No, “Air Bud” was unfortunately not ripped from the headlines.

But will audiences flock to “Million Dollar Arm,” or is the film a big swing and a miss? Here’s what critics have to say about the movie, which opens Friday (May 16).

Intelligent and Respectful
“The country itself is depicted in largely the same chaotic, exoticized terms that have become de rigueur in Western-made movies: endless snarls of traffic, stomach-upsetting cuisine, poor sanitary conditions, and those unflappable locals who throw their hands in the air and say things like, ‘Here in India, we do things a little differently.’ But even at its broadest, the movie is careful to afford its Indian characters a certain fundamental dignity — and, in another intelligent move, allows them to deliver much of their dialogue in ...

Here Are 11 Things The Government Is Actually Doing To Stop A Zombie Apocalypse

by 05/15/14

The Pentagon has a plan to save you from zombies. Seriously.

CONPLAN 8888, also known as “Counter-Zombie Dominance,” was unclassified today and obtained by Foreign Policy. The document is 31 pages long and reads like a much crazier outline for “World War Z,” incorporating everything from the occult and chicken zombies to space alien zombies. This thing could fuel Hollywood with movie ideas through 2020.

As crazy as it all sounds, it’s not a joke, which is evidenced by the first line of report, “This plan was not actually designed as a joke.” The plan was originally compiled as a training exercise in composing such disaster plans, and was made so ridiculous that it wouldn’t be confused with a real guide if it ever leaked to the general public. Which, we have to say, is pretty ingenious. CONPLAN 8888 reads like a really good zombie novel, equal parts hilarious and terrifying.

Without further ado, here are 11 of the most incredible ways the U.S. government plans to stop the zombie apocalypse. Brad Pitt is not one of them. Yes, we’re bummed too.

11. Stop Chicken Zombies

The plan covers all types of zombies, from “Evil Magic Zombies” to “Space Zombies” to “Vegetarian Zombies,” but most terrifying of all are “Chicken Zombies.” Why? Because they actually exist. Hens are euthanized by farmers after they can’t lay eggs anymore, but sometimes aren’t quite dead and claw their way to the surface.

Thanks, Pentagon. There goes our dinner.

10. Establish Martial Law To Kill Robot ...

Elizabeth Olsen Can’t Wait For The Epic ‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron’ Group Photo

by 05/15/14

With Reporting By Josh Horowitz

Elizabeth Olsen has gone from small indie dramas to huge blockbusters in the blink of an eye.

Not only is the acclaimed actress in “Godzilla,” she also landed the coveted role of Scarlet Witch in “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” which she stars in alongside “Godzilla” co-star Aaron Taylor-Johnson (who plays Quicksilver).

But the two weren’t entirely comfortable going into the superhero sequel.

“It is intimidating going into a production where everyone has their characters fully fleshed out and they know their weaknesses and they have their comedy,” Olsen said. “Aaron and I don’t really have the luxury of time to develop those.”

Luckily, Olsen had a great director to help her with, “all those things [that] make you feel more confident before you’re like, what up Jeremy, let’s do it. You stay in your tights, I’ll stay in mine, and we’ll defeat… things.”

What “things” Olsen might be referring to she wouldn’t say, but apparently she’s already gotten knee deep into some superheroics.

“I’ve been doing some fun stuff,” Olsen explained. “I am unique in this world, and so it’s fun to do what I get to do, because it is different. And I think it also is fun for Joss because we’re developing and creating something together, and he’s getting really excited by it.”

Though Olsen has met all of her fellow Avengers on set, they have unfortunately yet to take what we’re sure will be the most epic group photo ever.

“I’m so excited for that to happen,” Olsen said giddily. “I really ...

Harrison Ford Officially Offered ‘Blade Runner’ Sequel Role

by 05/15/14

Harrison Ford could make some sci-fi fans really, really happy.

The actor, who already thrilled fans by reprising his role as Han Solo “Star Wars: Episode VII,” has been publicly offered the role of Rick Deckard in Ridley Scott’s unnamed “Blade Runner” sequel, “Variety” reports.

Deckard was the main character in the original film, a so-called blade runner hired to destroy rogue replicants (human-like robots) in a dystopian future. The film is one of the biggest influences on modern sci-fi, with its dystopian look informing everything from “Looper” to “Hunger Games.”

While Ford’s name has been brought up before in anticipation of the sci-fi followup, this is the first official word we have that he’s been in discussions for the project. Now, the role is his for the taking… if he wants it.

That’s really the big question, as Ford, unlike many other movie stars, has not been so quick to cash in on big-time blockbuster opportunities — though with roles in “Ender’s Game” and the new “Star Wars,” he might be rethinking that philosophy.

Still, this is different, as the script was co-written by original “Blade Runner” scribe Hampton Fancher and will be directed by Scott. If Ford signs on, then a huge part of the creative team from the original movie will be back, over thirty years later.

There are no details about the sequel, including how big Ford’s role might be, other than the fact that it takes place a few decades after the original — something which also ...

Watch Nicholas Hoult Marvel At His Own Face On A Twinkies Box

by 05/14/14

With Reporting By Josh Horowitz

Nicholas Hoult has acted alongside some of the biggest names in Hollywood and is dating Jennifer Lawrence. But the actor, who plays Beast in “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” was surprisingly starstruck when he found out that he was on the cover of a Twinkies box.

“I’m on a Twinkies box!” Hoult said, looking at the box in some kind of awe. “I’m big time.”

You can work with Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman, but once you’re on an X-Men Twinkies box for a movie tie-in, you know you’ve made it. So what’s Hoult going to do with himself now that he’s a big-time Twinkies celebrity?

“Well, I don’t have to be doing this interview anymore,” Hoult joked, as he began to walk away from our own Josh Horowitz.

But there was more to see, as Hoult discovered he was on the top of the box as well! And that’s not even mentioning the fact that the Twinkies’ blue raspberry filling is clearly inspired by Beast’s blue fur.

All the Twinkie talk was getting Hoult hungry, and with the Twinkies right there…

“I’ll have that as a snack for later,” Hoult said, though his tune changed a little when Josh gave him one of the delectable treats.

“Were you saving that for later?” Hoult asked. “It’s so warm.”

You know what’s warmer than the slightly squished snack? Nicholas Hoult’s heart. Now that he knows he’s on a Twinkies box, he knows he’s finally arrived in Hollywood. We’re glad we did our ...

Ben Affleck As Batman And The 12 Best Superhero First Looks Ever

by 05/14/14

We got our first look at Ben Affleck as Batman yesterday courtesy of director Zack Snyder, and by all accounts, it was pretty wonderful.

Our excitement over the new Bat-suit got us thinking: what’s the best, most goosebump-inducing first look at a superhero ever, and where does the reveal of Batfleck rank? Here’s a rundown of some of our favorites.

12) “Hulk” Teaser Trailer

Ang Lee’s 2003 version of the Hulk is one of the most polarizing superhero movies, regarded by some as an artistic failure, a curious blip on the radar of Marvel successes.

The first teaser trailer for “Hulk” is not polarizing: it’s just awesome. Eric Bana delivers a great Jekyll & Hyde-inspired monologue with just the right about of crazy, and though we never see the full Hulk, seeing Bana’s eye and face morph before he destroys a house made fans eager to see what would be on the big screen.

11) Chris Hemsworth As Thor

thor-first-image

“Thor” was probably Marvel’s riskiest venture at the time. The thunder god isn’t a normal superhero, and Marvel was faced with the task of making him true to the comics while still being believable in a connected universe.

Everyone wanted to know what newcomer Chris Hemsworth, then known as the guy who played Captain Kirk’s dad in J.J. Abrams’ “Star Trek,” would look like. The first image, featuring a brooding Hemsworth in costume, managed to show how the movie would be respectful to Thor’s medieval look, and that Hemsworth was a ginormous human being who ...

‘Penny Dreadful’: All The Biggest Moments From The Series Premiere

by 05/11/14

If I were a mad scientist (like, say, Victor Frankenstein), and I mixed “American Horror Story” with “True Detective,” while sprinkling in bits of “Sherlock,” “True Blood” and “Lost,” I’d probably get something akin to Showtime’s “Penny Dreadful.”

The show’s first episode, “Night Work,” is notable for how well-paced and confident it is, allowing us to bask in the show’s atmosphere and beautiful but grotesque creations.

And despite being a gripping hour of TV, the episode also tells us almost nothing about the show’s plot going forward, revealing a bunch of mysteries, characters (some, like Victor Frankenstein, from literature, and some, like Josh Hartnett’s gunslinging Ethan Chandler, who aren’t — at least not yet), and possible story threads. Here’s everything you need to know about the series premiere:

Let’s Talk About That Opening

Now that’s what I call an intro. A young woman awakes from her bed, her child sleeping soundly. Everything is very slow and deliberate, she’s totally fine, until, oh wait, she just got snatched by a monster through a window.

In one short sequence that has absolutely nothing (so far, at least) to do with the show’s plot, it established immediately a unique tone, setting, and visual style; and managed to deliver one hell of a jump scare to boot.

Eva Green’s A Creepster
Green plays Vanessa Ives, a character (also not from any piece of literature) who appears to be the partner of Timothy Dalton’s Sir Malcolm Murray. And she’s about as awesomely creepy as it gets. Just check it out when ...

Scarlett Johansson Can Make Anything Erotic… Even Cooking

by 05/10/14

With Reporting By Josh Horowitz

The characters in Jon Favreau’s “Chef,” which stars Favreau, Scarlett Johansson, John Leguizamo, and many others, love food… and, according to Leguizamo, we mean they love food.

“I love that the sex scene is him cooking,” Leguizamo told MTV News.

Of course, the beautiful ladies star and director Favreau cast as his love interests in the movie didn’t hurt, especially on set.

“How about the girlfriends he has?” Leguizamo said. “How bout the women he surrounds himself with? That’s what I liked about the movie the most.

“He has Scarlett Johansson as his girlfriend, Sofia Vergara as his ex-wife… if he had Kerry Washington he would’ve had the whole spectrum.”

Clearly, as Leguizamo said, there’s “power in cooking” to be able to attract so many gorgeous women. Still, an erotic scene involving food? Really?

“Scarlett can make anything erotic,” Leguizamo explained. “Look at her, just the voice you’re already like, oh God.”

Being in the movie was fun for more than just the food and beauties, though. Favreau’s sets are famous for their emphasis on improv, and when Favreau warned Leguizamo about the open nature of the script, the actor told his director, ” ‘You’re gonna have trouble shutting me up.’ And he did. But he’d let me try. I said some racy, racy, crazy s***, so it was fun.”

Cooking, sex, and comedy. Sounds like the trifecta to us.

Check out “Chef,” which hits theaters today (May 9).
