Sisqo Says He’ll Finally Complete Dragon Trilogy With Last Dragon This Year

by 28 mins ago

This December, Sisqo will complete his long-awaited album trilogy with his final installment, Last Dragon. As you may have picked up from his album titles, jewelry choices or profile on instagram, dragons are very important to the “Thong Song” singer, and this last album got us wondering. What’s the deal?

According to Sisqo, his interest in the fire-breathing reptiles goes much deeper than you might think. He and his son are both born in the Chinese year of the dragon, his 1999 hit album Unleash the Dragon was released in the year of the dragon, and when he was first being signed to his label he stumbled across a Dragon chain in Chinatown, and hasn’t taken it off since. It has gotten to the point that fans call HIM dragon. (It’s worth mentioning that not all of the dragon omens Sisqo mentioned matched up with the zodiac calendar MTV News checked, but why argue a man’s devotion to dragons?)

And although we would never doubt his dedication to the species, we were a little curious to see how well Sisqo was keeping up with the many dragons in pop culture. These days, there are lots to choose from, so we decided to put the singer to the test — literally.

Watch Sisqo take our Dragon quiz (spoiler: he NAILS it).

His newest single “A-list,” featuring Waka Flocka Flame, is out now. Last Dragon will be released December 9.

Krewella’s Kris Trindl Accuses Groupmates Of Kicking Him Out For Getting Sober

by 40 mins ago

Kris Trindl of Krewella has not only left the EDM group, but is now suing the two remaining members — sisters Jahan and Yasmine Yousaf — for $5 million, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Issues between the three members allegedly stem from Trindl’s issues with alcohol, which put him into treatment and away from the group in 2013. According to Kris, his newfound sobriety was not appealing to the Yousaf sisters and was interpreted as depression and a way to force him out of the group.

“It was not Kris’ health or sobriety the others were thinking about, it was all about keeping him off the road so Jahan and Yasmine could establish themselves to live audiences as a duo without Kris, so they could eventually erase him completely from Krewella and reap greater financial rewards,” the complaint reads.

Jahan and Yasmine addressed these allegations on Facebook after the story broke Tuesday.

“To our krew:

We woke up this morning to the lawsuit Kris filed against us. As you all know, there are two sides to every story. We ask our fans to please be patient and not come to any conclusions until we are able to respond to the lawsuit with the truth. Our team has advised that we don’t get into any specifics until we can properly respond to the false claims made—most importantly being that we did not kick Kris out of Krewella, he resigned. We’re having a really difficult time today. As we write this letter ...

We Watched The ‘Thong Song’ Video With Sisqo And It Was Hilarious

by 15 mins ago

Few songs transcend time, age and circumstance the way that the “Thong Song” has. Since it came into our lives 15 years ago, it is just as wild at your wedding as it was at your middle school dance. You probably could describe your first time experiencing the music video in great detail. In celebration of the “Thong Song’s” 15th anniversary, I sat down with the man who brought it into this world— Sisqo himself.

As we watched the video together and reminisced, Sisqo pointed out that “15 years in the entertainment industry is like 1,500 years,” and he’s right. When this song came out, it was considered a scandalous subject — and now the lyrics are practically rated G compared to the rest of today’s music. Regardless, from the very first sound of the violin, the track holds onto its purpose: the ability to make anyone, anywhere, excited to dance.

Sisqo weighs in on different aspects of the video: his silver hair, the many girls in thongs and his variety of celebrity cameos, but most importantly, he points out that if you look closely, you can see the moment when he invented twerking pre-Miley Cyrus.

Axwell / Ingrosso Are Now A Part Of The Def Jam Family

by 7 mins ago

Former Swedish House Mafia members Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso are officially releasing their debut album as the newest members of the Def Jam family, the record label announced Friday (September 19).

“We are proud at Def Jam to have Axwell / Ingrosso choose us to be their label home. Their music is forward, innovative, invigorating and boundless,” Steve Bartels (CEO of Def Jam Recordings) said. “Def Jam has the artistry and energy of DJ culture within its pedigree, right there in our logo. This is a significant moment for all of us as at Def Jam.”

Despite their many successes as SHM, the supergroup never released an official album, so this 2015 release is a significant one for the DJ/producing duo. Fans have had a taste of what Axwell and Ingrosso can do together from their joint residency in Ibiza and the snippet of their premiere single “This Time We Can’t Go Home,” and the demand for more is higher than ever. With Def Jam on their side, their debut album is already off to a running start.

Congrats to Def Jam and to Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso. While the guys are hard at work on an international tour, keep an eye out for any other music drops in 2014, and hold yourself over in the meantime with “This Time We Can’t Go Home.”

Zac Efron Needs A Name For His DJ Supergroup With Dillon Francis

by 32 mins ago

Don’t freak out, Zac Efron fans, but, according to Instagram, he is about to form a new DJ supergroup alongside Dillon Francis. There’s just one problem — they don’t have a name yet.

‘What should our name be?’ Dillon asked his followers. Any ideas?

Ok, so this whole “DJ supergroup” thing is probably not happening. But, Zac is the star of “We Are Your Friends,” an upcoming, EDM-themed movie directed by MTV’s own Max Joseph. Maybe this pic has something to do with it?

A few trailers for the film have been released, but it’s still unclear whether Zac will play a DJ or just a fan of the genre. “We Are Your Friends” is due out sometime next year, but you can follow its official Instagram account for some sneak peeks, like the one below, while you wait.

Skate, Zefron, skate!

Back to what really matters here: What should Zac and Dillon name their (100% fictional) DJ supergroup? Zillon Efrancis? Dac Fefron? The possibilities are endless. Post your best ideas in the comments.

Jessie Ware’s Video For ‘Say You Love Me’ Is Just Singing & Feelings

by 1 min ago

Jessie Ware has always been an emotional and expressive singer, but it has never been more obvious than on her new single, “Say You Love Me.” The video for the track is as stripped down as music videos get these days — it really lets the song speak for itself. Perched on a rock for the entirety of the video, Ware belts out the lyrics to seemingly no one, often boldly staring straight into the camera.

For such a passionate ballad, the video is just enough.

The 29-year-old announced via Twitter she’ll be releasing her sophomore album, Tough Love, on October 6. We were so mesmerized by Devotion, it’s hard to imagine what adding Ed Sheeran and Miguel into the mix will create, and we can’t wait!

Calvin Harris, John Newman And A Bunch Of Sad Models Hook Up For ‘Blame’ Video

by 4 mins ago

Calvin Harris has his serious face on in his latest music video “Blame,” and it looks good. The Scottish DJ makes a few appearances in the video alongside the track’s vocalist, John Newman, but this video’s narrative is more about the ladies. While the men seem to be deep in thought, scantily clad women fill every scene — whether it’s in the bedroom, a hot tub or the club.

Directed by Emil Nava, the video takes a fairy-tale turn once the ladies start disappearing into puddles, sinks and buckets of champagne; they eventually end up together in a large chaotic swimming pool. Fear not, though, because just as the sun comes up all the girls make it to the surface … but there’s no sign of the boys.

Calvin broke yet another Spotify record with this track — it’s already #1 since its release on September 7, making it the fastest-climbing song ever. The DJ/producer recently became the first British recording artist to have over 1 billion streams on Spotify.

Madonna … The DJ?

by 8 mins ago

Madonna’s dalliance with electronic music has moved to the next level — the DJ booth level. Alongside her producer extraordinaire Diplo and his Jack U partner, Skrillex, Madge made her DJ’ing debut in NYC on Wednesday, at Jeremy Scott’s New York Fashion Week afterparty. According to Instagram, Diplo never stops teaching, but the Material Girl just wanted to rave.

“@madonna: Another lecture from Diplo on djbooth etiquette! #sorrynotsorry #unapologeticbitch #diplotic”

“#madonna: I just want to rave in the back! #sorrynotsorry #unapologeticbitch. #skrillyboy #fu-kyousaying”

Madonna and Diplo came from the studio where they’ve been putting together Madonna’s upcoming album. The pop queen has been very vocal about how hard the pair have been working in the studio, often posting late-night photos with her partner-in-crime.

But after every post from Madge there is a friendly reminder that she is always #unapologetic. Is it hinting to an album title…or just a useful hashtag? That remains to be seen. In the mean time we would love to keep seeing Madonna in the DJ booth.

Calvin Harris, Kendrick Lamar And Ellie Goulding Are Headed To The Bermuda Triangle

by 11 mins ago

If you’re looking for a way to make Halloween way creepier, we have great news. The Bermuda Triangle (also known as the Devil’s Triangle) will host a star-studded concert this Halloween weekend, and 1,862 lucky fans will be there to witness it. There are only three artists performing, with three charter jets coming in from three cities, you know, to stick with the triangle theme.

Kendrick Lamar, Ellie Goulding and Calvin Harris will headline what is being called the Bacardi Triangle (hosted by you guessed it– Bacardi), and the audience will be a combination of invited guests and contest winners. The event will go down October 30 to November 2 at a resort in Puerto Rico, but the special show will take place specifically on Palomino Island in the heart of the mysterious Bermuda Triangle.

There are still many questions without answers. How do we get a spot on one of the jets? Why specifically 1,862 people? What precautions are being taken against fans disappearing IN the Bermuda Triangle????

All we know is it should be an epic party, and to keep checking bacarditriangle.com for details.

The Chainsmokers’ ‘Kanye’ Video Is A Total Cinderella Story

by 34 mins ago

The Chainsmokers have released the video for their second single, “Kanye,” and it’s a cinematic experience somewhere between Maid in Manhattan and Cinderella.

The video, directed by Ike Love Jones, starts in a hotel room where a maid is scrubbing the floors outside of the bathroom where you can hear a snippet of conversation from The Chainsmoker’s first single, “Selfie.” Quickly, the maid realizes she doesn’t want to scrub the floor — she wants to be like Kanye, and she helps herself to the Selfie girls’ fancy clothes and furs, and is soon out on the town with the other socialites.

After she’s spent some time drinking champagne and wearing a tiara, the maid realizes the lifestyle isn’t for her and makes her way back to her job at the hotel. We’re not convinced that’s what Kanye would do.

After the rampant success of “Selfie” the bar was set pretty high for The Chainsmokers’ follow-up single, and this video is surprisingly down-to-earth.
