Is it too early to put on my space suit for Ariana Grande’s new intergalactic song “Break Free”? Nope.

In the words of Ms. Grande herself (and the thousands of other people who trended it): “#10daysUntilBreakFree.”

When Ariana confirmed the Zedd-produced, “Barbarella”-inspired single on Saturday and then promised to start a 10-day countdown “soon,” we didn’t think it would be this soon. But we’re thanking our lucky stars; this means “Break Free” should be out July 1.

The Barbadian songstress doesn’t seem to have a favorite team, but hey, why not root for all the countries? We’re all in this together, right? And as we all know, there’s no better way to support your fave football (ahem, soccer) team, than to shoot out some carefully worded tweets.

Pharrell’s Vivienne Westwood hat (a.k.a. the Smokey the Bear hat from the 2014 Grammys) seems like it will never go away.

After the “Happy” producer took the thing out for a spin at the Grammys on January 26 — let me remind you that this was almost six months ago — the forest-ranger-like gallon hat instantly became an Internet meme. But now it’s June, and the wide-brimmed accessory is still a thing. Is P’s trend turning into a classic look?

Demi Lovato is remembering her father, Patrick, one year after he lost his battle with cancer.

“Can’t believe it’s already been a year..,” the singer tweeted. “Wish I could’ve hugged you one last time.. RIP Daddy, I love you.”

Shortly after his death, Lovato revealed that her father was suffering from mental illness, and she created the Lovato Treatment Scholarship, which pays for the cost of treatment, in his honor.

“My father and I didn’t have the most ideal relationship but at the end of the day he’s still my dad and I grew up with him and he was a wonderful person,” she told “Good Morning America” in 2013. “And it’s difficult but I’m handling it OK.”

Rixton is officially going on tour (they announced The Broken Heart Tour on Wednesday – yipee!). But now that we know they’re coming to a town near us, we need to do a lot of preparing. What can we expect?

Luckily, we were able to ask the guys what their live shows are like. After all, we have been watching the Brit boys from afar for quite some time.

“Jake does a dance routine,” bandmate Charley Bagnall told MTV News, when they stopped by our studio this week.

“I haven’t choreographed it yet, but if you ask me in two weeks, I’ll be able to come along with my headless mic,” fellow bandmate Jake Roche said (with a completely straight face, I might add).

Along with the very-choreographed dance moves, Jake plans on getting “too involved” with fans.

“I make out with them,” Roche said bluntly.

I think it’s time to actually define “feminism,” to reiterate exactly what “feminism” is. Because, to be honest, some of us don’t know.

Many of those people, including Shailene Woodley and, most recently, Pharrell, refuse to affix the “feminist” label to their lapel. But what I’m thinking is that they’re feminists in disguise. After all, a feminist is just someone who believes that women should have the same opportunities as men.

“I don’t think it’s possible for me to be that,” Pharrell said when asked if he was a feminist in a U.K. TV interview on Wednesday. “I’m a man. It makes sense up until a certain point. But what I do is, I do support feminists.”

But if you support feminists and what they believe in, aren’t you a feminist yourself? Pharrell then went on to say very feminist things about women in leadership and the way society physically upholds women.

“I would love to see a woman run the country,” he said. “Historically, this world has been run by man. And what would a world be like if 75 percent our world leaders, our presidents and prime ministers, were female? What would that world be like? We don’t know, because we haven’t given it a shot. We’re too busy telling them what they can and can’t do with their bodies. Or, we’re too busy, you know, not allowing them to make the same amount of money that a man makes.”

Cher Lloyd stopped by the MTV Newsroom on Tuesday (May 27) to warn us that, in the next few months, she’s going to be everywhere… “like a rash.”

With her album Sorry I’m Late out today, tons of press, and supposedly an upcoming tour (and even more supposedly, a video with Demi Lovato), Cher is letting herself be heard. When she came by for “Live from MTV,” she performed “Sirens” and “Bind Your Love” and answered all the fan questions we can get into 30 minutes.

Which song does she find the most personal? How long does she spend on her hair? Cher dished all, and she wasn’t afraid to give out a little advice for her Bratz too.

A few fans introduced their queries to Lloyd, hoping for a little direction, and boy, she didn’t sweeten any of her answers. When it came to dealing with that boyfriend-obsessed BFF, she said to get rid of her. “Don’t waste your time thinking about her, because I’m sure she’s not thinking about you when she’s with him.” Damn, Cher.

Tegan and Sara have their next few months booked full. Not only are they currently playing their Let’s Make Things Physical Tour, but come September, they’ll be supporting Katy Perry on her Prismatic World Tour. And when all of it is over, the glitter and thematics of the “Roar” singer might have rubbed off on the sister duo.

“I’ve been really excited lately that some of the biggest tours are female,” Sara told MTV at last weekend’s Hangout Festival, where the band played on the Alabama beach. “You know like Beyoncé going out, Katy Perry. We did a show with Taylor Swift last year that I was absolutely blown away; Miley Cyrus’ show looks crazy.”

The twins are grateful that Perry’s bringing them along, and maybe by the end of the trek, they’ll be more like the over-the-top pop star.

“They’re all taking out really alternative bands opening for them,” Tegan said. “I think that that’s really neat. A lot of people in pop music are giving props to and supporting some of the smaller indie pop musicians. It’s going to be fun. We’re going to hopefully learn a lot. Next time you see Tegan and Sara we’ll have, like, costumes, and be flying around.”

“Can’t wait to get in a harness,” Sara joked.

“Cupcakes as a bra,” Tegan laughed.

Janelle Monáe has canceled two out of five dates on the Australian and New Zealand leg of her Golden Electric Tour, due to sudden illness.

According to Billboard, a statement issued by promoters, Live Nation Australasia, said Monáe has been required to stay in Melbourne under medical supervision to assess her recovery.

On Saturday, Monáe canceled her Melbourne show after Kimbra’s opening performance, even though her band was already set up. The singer stayed in Melbourne and canceled Monday night’s show in Sydney as well.

No word from the Electric Lady singer as yet, but Live Nation is expected to make a statement today about rescheduling the missed dates. MTV News has reached out to Monáe, but has not heard back by press time.
