Harry Styles has made unexpected boy-band fans out of all of us.
It’s true: long before my days of fawning over One Direction, I was popping a Coldplay album into my portable CD player and spinning the sounds of X & Y. But somewhere around 2011, something changed. Harry and the boys were telling me “What Makes Your Beautiful” and the boy-band craze crashed over me, washing away the indie-rock-pop days of the past and delivering me straight into the arms of Liam, Niall, Zayn, Louis, and yeah, bad-boy, gruff-voiced, headband-donning, chest-baring, boot-clacking, floppy-haired Harry.
And as it turns out, my Brit obsession of yesteryear, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, feels the very same way.
“Harry has come to a couple of our shows,” Martin told BBC Radio 1′s Zane Lowe. “I think I probably said the same thing about chemistry. I can’t remember — I was too enamored with his haircut. I was like this: ‘I was pretty sure I was a straight guy before’ — I was having a hot flush.”

Judging by that quote — Hot flush? What? — Martin might be a bigger fan than me. Then again, I’ve never been #blessed enough to meet 1D singer myself, so who knows what would happen.
“I’m saying One Direction are brilliant and I’m not kidding,” Martin said. “You know why? Because their songs are really good and I don’t think that any of them are going to go solo.”
Fingers crossed, Chris. FINGERS CROSSED.
