Here’s How Lea Michele Would Really Handle A Feud With Naya Rivera

by 05/16/14

We’re not sure who came up with the rumors that Naya Rivera was causing serious, career-ending drama on the set of “Glee,” but whoever you are, Lea Michele thinks you’re pretty damn annoying.

Shortly after Big Sean’s ex-fiancee was confirmed to be returning to the Fox show despite reports that she was fired, Lea Michele spoke out about what makes all the rumors so “frustrating.”

“it’s really unbelievable the amount of the things that can just be completely made up, and it’s really frustrating,” she said on “The Late Show” on Friday (May 16) after the host joked that he had heard she punched someone on set. “I think the way people like to pit women against each other … it’s really annoying, and it’s really sad.”

Earlier this week, show creator Ryan Murphy also called the feud rumors “completely fabricated.”

“I don’t think there is a story between Naya and Lea,” he told Extra. “Naya’s coming back next year, Lea’s coming back next year – anybody ever in that cast has an open invitation to come back and finish the character they so beautifully started.”

And if there were ever beef with her co-star, Michele says she’d know exactly how to handle it.

“If there were ever really a catfight on the show, you’d know about it, because I’d get a ring, and I’d put jello in it, and I’d make it fun for everyone, and it would be super hot.”

Noted.

‘The Fault In The Stars’ Author Says There’s One Thing That Makes The Movie ‘A Lot Better’

by 05/16/14

When your novel is getting the big-screen treatment, you’re bound to be a bit particular to make sure it stays true to the story you created. But in the case of John Green, the author of “The Fault in Our Stars” he’s well aware that there’s something that “changed” his story when director Josh Boone made a movie out of it – and he’s not complaining at all.

It’s the music. And with a rollercoaster of ballads and anthems from the likes of Birdy, Grouplove, Ed Sheeran and Ray LaMontagne, the soundtrack to “The Fault in Our Stars” only makes the story – about two cancer young patients who fall in love — that much more powerful.

“I love the soundtrack; I’m so thrilled with it. Music changes a story,” Green told MTV News earlier this week at the “Fault in Our Stars” Livestream Concert at Los Angeles’ YouTube Space. “I saw the movie before the soundtrack was final… and it’s a very different movie now. It’s a lot better. It was already a beautiful story, but with the music, it just makes it that much more powerful.”

Perhaps one of the reasons it is so powerful is that Boone made sure the artists knew the exact moment their song would appear. In the case of Grouplove, who contribute the uplifting “Let Me In,” they created the track specifically for one moment: when Gus (played by Ansel Elgort) surprises Hazel (Shailene Woodley) by showing up to her house in a limo, standing ...

Employee Who Recorded Jay Z/Solange Attack Fired

by 05/14/14

The Standard Hotel has fired the employee who recorded a security video of a woman believed to be Beyonce’s sister, Solange Knowles, violently attacking Jay Z in the hotel’s elevator.

The employee, who is not being named, was fired for “breaching the security polices of the hotel and recording the confidential CCTV video,” the New York City hotel told The Associated Press on Wednesday (May 13).

In the video, the woman believed to be Solange is seen repeatedly hitting and kicking Jay, before their bodyguard steps in to fend her off.

“We are shocked and disappointed that there was a clear breach of our security system and the confidentiality that we count on providing our guests,” the hotel said in statement shortly after TMZ released the three-minute clip. “We are investigating with the utmost urgency the circumstances surrounding the situation and, as is our customary practice, will discipline and prosecute the individuals involved to our fullest capacity.”

While it’s still unclear what could have prompted Solange to lash out — reps for neither Jay or Solange have yet to comment on the incident — all appears to be well between she and Beyonce. On Wednesday morning, Bey made a rather loud statement on Instagram by posting several pictures of her with her younger sister.

A Justin Bieber/ Michael Jackson Duet Could Totally Still Happen

by 05/14/14

Last August, pop fans simultaneously jumped for joy and scratched their heads when a never-before-released Michael Jackson track surfaced online that featured Justin Bieber. But shortly after, just as mysteriously as it came, it vanished.

That track, the up-tempo, dance-driven “Slave 2 The Rhythm,” is noticeably absent from the just-released XSCAPE, a collection of eight never-before heard tracks from the King of Pop. But there’s a valid reason for that, and the album’s executive producer, LA Reid, is hardly ruling out getting Justin and Michael together on a new — and official — track. After all, the Epic Records CEO has played an integral role in the young pop star’s career, and Reid admitted that “Justin is my guy… I feel like I should protect him.”

“‘Slave 2 the Rhythm’ didn’t include [Bieber] per my direction. That was something done separate and apart from me, and it was leaked. If it hadn’t been leaked it would have been featured, but it sort of took the wrong turn,” Reid told “Access Hollywood” earlier this week. “But we’re going to revisit that. We’re gonna revisit that and do something special with Justin Bieber and Michael.”

Whatever they do come up with, Reid said he’ll ensure that the collaboration lives up to Jackson’s standards — even if it isn’t the next “Thriller.”

“Michael has some of the greatest albums…. it’s very, very tough to top that. Michael always lived in his mind of topping it,” he said of the eight tracks that ...

James Franco Says ‘Spring Breakers’ Sequel Will Be ‘Terrible’

by 05/14/14

“Spring Breakers” fans may have ordered a celebratory round of shots when they heard there’s a sequel in the works, but there’s at least one person who isn’t happy about it: Alien himself, James Franco.

In fact, he’s pretty angry about the whole thing.

The follow-up — which is tentatively titled “Spring Breakers: The Second Coming” and follows the girls at war with “an extreme militant Christian sect that attempts to convert them” — is not being directed by Harmony Korine, but rather by Swedish filmmaker Jonas Akerlund, known primarily for his music videos.

Wild Bunch, the Paris-based production house behind “The Second Coming,” clarified that it’s not a “direct sequel,” but there will be “allusions” to some of the characters from the 2013 film. Wild Bunch co-chief Vincent Maraval said it will feature a mix of new and old cast, but without Korine in the director’s chair, none of the original’s principal actors have jumped on board.

And according to Franco, they shouldn’t. During Oscars season, the actor heavily campaigned for a Best Supporting Actor nod and insisted that despite its perception as another flick about hard-partying and drugs, “it is one of the movies of the year.” And that’s precisely why he’s so upset that the folks at Wild Bunch are producing a follow-up without Korine’s consent. In a lengthy Instagram post on Wednesday (May 14), he warned that anyone who does sign up for the “weak” sequel is boarding a “poison ship.”

“This is not being done with Harmony Korine or ...

Magic Johnson Responds To Donald Sterling: ‘He Can’t Buy His Way Out Of This One’

by 05/13/14

Magic Johnson didn’t really see Donald Sterling’s sit-down with Anderson Cooper as much of an apology, either.

Weeks after the LA Lakers condemned his then-girlfriend for “associating with black people” after she took a picture with Johnson, Sterling only made matters worse by questioning his contributions to society and other African Americans — as well as making judgments on his character largely based on his HIV-positive status.

While Sterling admitted to Cooper that he made a “terrible, terrible mistake,” he told the anchor, “What has he done? Can you tell me? Big Magic Johnson, what has he done? Well, what kind of a guy goes to every city, has sex with every girl, then he catches HIV? Is that someone we want to respect and tell our kids about? I think he should be ashamed of himself. I think he should go into the background. But what does he do for the black people? He doesn’t do anything.”

Well, on Tuesday (May 13), Cooper invited Johnson to respond, saying he found his comments “disturbing.”

“I was caught in the middle of this love affair or whatever they had,” he said. “This is not about me, it’s about this woman who recorded you. And then you drag me into it and talk about my work in the community. He needs to address this young lady, that’s where the problem is, it’s not with Magic Johnson.”

But whether he liked it or not, he was dragged into all of it – as was his HIV-positive status, ...

Clay Aiken Wins Congressional Primary In North Carolina

by 05/13/14

Clay Aiken is officially in the running for a seat in the House of Representatives after winning a primary in North Carolina’s second congressional district.

One day after his opponent Keith Crisco died suddenly after a fall in his home, the “American Idol” alum was was declared the Democratic nominee after winning the required 40 percent of the vote in the district. The two were in a tight race when Crisco died on Monday. Aiken won 40.86 percent of the votes, while Crisco won 39.49 percent.

The singer will face Republican incumbent Renee Ellmers in the Novemeber election after edging out Crisco by 390 votes.

Aiken suspended all campaign activities after learning of his opponent’s passing, writing on Twitter on Monday, “I am stunned and deeply saddened by Keith Crisco’s death. He was a gentleman, a good and honorable man and an extraordinary public servant.”

The district historically leans primarily Republican. (Mitt Romney won 57 percent of the vote there in 2012.)

One Direction ‘This Is Us’ Sequel On The Way? Not So Fast

by 05/12/14

Listen, we know y’all are anxiously awaiting another fireworks-laden One Direction 3-D bonanza a la “This Is Us,” but you’re just going to have be patient.

Despite what “One Direction: This Is Us” director Morgan Spurlock told The Daily Star, a rep for the boy band tells MTV News a sequel has said reports that the guys are already filming a sequel are untrue (“at this time”).

“This Is Us,” which hit theaters last August, was the fourth highest-grossing concert film of all time, earning nearly $30 million in the U.S. and almost $70 million worldwide.

But don’t lose hope: They could very well confirm the news soon. The guys were spotted with camera men in tow when they visted Machu Picchu recently, and back in September, the guys’ mentor, Simon Cowell, told us that they would “for sure” be interested in another movie.

“Yeah, for sure. We’d love to do another movie with them,” Cowell said. “But they’ve got this massive tour next year, so we’ve got to work into their schedule, hopefully.”

The tour he’s referring to is their massive Where We Are Tour, which kicked off in Bogota, Colombia, at the end of April, and will wrap up in Miami in October.

Justin Timberlake Says Leaving ‘NSYNC Was One Of His ‘Best/Worst’ Decisions

by 05/12/14

Maybe that epic VMA reunion got everyone feeling nostalgic, but more than a decade later, people are still wondering why oh why Justin Timberlake left ‘NSYNC.

So now, four solo albums after the fact, he’s clarifying on why, exactly, he decided to go solo at the age of 21.

“I would wake up every morning feeling this more and more of an urge to step out on my own and try my own hand as a musician just by myself,” Timberlake said on Sunday night’s season premiere of “Oprah’s Master Class” on OWN. “It was happening all around me: ‘Why wouldn’t you ride this out? You’re the biggest group in the world. Why would you walk away from this?’”

Before announcing their “temporary” hiatus back in 2002, the boy band had achieved unparalleled levels of success — No Strings Attached is among the top 10 best-selling albums since in the SoundScan era, and they have sold more than 50 million albums. Which is why, Timberlake says, his decision was a “bittersweet” one.

“It’s one of the best/worst things that I have ever done,” the “Suit & Tie” singer added. “It was hard to say goodbye to that era, but I felt it changing. I felt music changing. And I felt myself changing.”

So for anyone still desperately hoping for the band to get back together: Sorry, but in the meantime, watch this, and think of old times:
