Dolly Parton knows you might think her goddaughter is trashy.

Indeed, while the more conservative out there may see videos of Miley Cyrus riding an inflatable penis or twerking on a horse and shake their heads, the 68-year-old country music legend totally gets it.

Namely because she’s been through it all before. In an interview with the U.K.’s Sunday Times, Parton says she completely identifies with the place Miley’s at in her career.

“Back in the day, doing my own things my own way, and dressing sexy and showing my cleavage and all that, I got a lot of criticism,” she said Lots of people thought I was making a mistake and that I was just trashy, which I was. So I did go through that, but I don’t give her advice. Everyone has to walk this journey according to their own rules. That’s what she’s doing. And I lurve her.”

In fact, Dolly thinks Miley’s persona is rather clever — saying it’s all part of a very clear message she’s trying to communicate.

“I’ve watched her grow up,” Parton says. “She’s a smart girl. She had to go to extremes to get her point across. I think she got the point across.”

Despite what Iggy Azalea’s recent comments to Billboard may have suggested, the “Fancy” rapper and Lorde are still totally tight — and they both still really don’t like the media.

Days after Iggy called Lorde’s tribute to Nirvana “inappropriate,” she took to Twitter to scold the media for painting her comments as a slam against the “Royals” singer.

“I consider lorde my very talented friend,” she wrote on Monday (June 9). “I find it ironic 2 girls tell the media theyre full of sh– & weeks later supposedly I dislike her.”

In her cover story, Iggy told the magazine that she didn’t think the New Zealand-born singer should have been included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tribute — one that united her with Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic as well as Joan Jett, Kim Gordon and St. Vincent — because “Lorde is not Kurt Cobain’s peer.”

But, as she clarified on Monday, that doesn’t mean she has something against Lorde herself.

“My opinion on the makings of a touching musical tribute wasn’t meant as some back door way to take a dig at her or the performance she gave. sorry if it came across that way, it’s not what I intended & I feel genuinely bad about it because I still think lorde is an awesome chick,” she added. “And I just don’t want to world thinking I don’t support the girls, because I do! Anyway I’m off to paint my kitchen! Lots of love.”

Yaya DaCosta has some pretty big shoes to fill.

The “America’s Next Top Model” alum — who since appeared in “Lee Daniels’ The Butler” and “The Kids Are All Right” as well as in several TV series including “House” and “Ugly Betty” — has been cast as Whitney Houston in Lifeftime’s upcoming biopic about the late singer, according to TVLine.com.

The film — which is tentatively titled “Whitney Houston” — will follow the singer’s early career and her turbulent relationship with Bobby Brown.

This will be the directorial debut for Angela Bassett, who costarred with Houston in 1995′s “Waiting to Exhale.”

In a statement earlier this month, Bassett wrote: “I have such regard for both Whitney’s and Bobby’s amazing talents and accomplishments; and I feel a responsibility in the telling of their story. Their humanity and bond fascinates us all. I’m beyond excited to have this opportunity to go behind the camera and into their world.”

The Lifetime biopic is expected to premiere next year.
