Always a NYFW highlight, Mark McNairy put together yet another chill but entertaining show for Spring/Summer 2015. The master of irreverent prep enlisted Travi$ Scott to walk in his show on Sunday (Sept. 7), modeling pieces from his latest collection. According to the designer himself, this range was inspired by American soldier on R&R during the Vietnam War.

As has become custom, McNairy’s daughter Daisy walked in the show (here she is above in the “FILTHY MCNASTY” tee).

And appeared in homage on other garments, as well. (Now accepting bets on how soon we’ll be seeing this daisy print crewneck on Pharrell.)

There were cowboy hats constructed from actual boxes of Cheerwine and Heineken. McNairy told us he sourced them from Beer Hats, which he saw in Salt Lake City and “flipped out.”

Also at the show? Six Woolrich Woolen Mills outfits that McNairy chose to show on women. Unisex dressing FTW, y’all.

Think it’d be impossible to get a fashion show together with four designers from all over the globe who have never shown in New York before? What if you threw in a team of expert mentors (including Mel Ottenberg, the stylist behind so many of Rihanna‘s most iconic looks) to help them get NYFW ready? And held it in a functioning concert hall? And then added a DJ competition? Are you exhausted just READING these questions? You should be because that’s a LOT of work. But it all happened for this season of VFiles Made Fashion.

If you don’t already know about Telfar, get acquainted. The eponymously named line is the brainchild of Telfar Clemens and has garnered a rapidly growing cult following which boasts some of the fashion and art worlds’ most influential tastemakers. To name a few: Dev Hynes/Blood Orange, Haley Wollens, Been Trill‘s Heron Preston and Ruth Gruca, and the VFiles set).

We went to his Spring/Summer 2015 show—a minimalist runway presentation in downtown New York, scored only with a piano serving up delicate instrumental renditions of all your favorite pop songs—to get the first look at what he has in store for the next time the sun rolls around. In short, there’s a smattering of muted pastels, experimental silhouettes and peekaboos, and a smart deconstruction of classic American fashion staples like the pique polo, the lightweight summer knit, and of course, denim.

MTV: Tell me about your inspiration for Spring/Summer 2015.

TELFAR: My inspiration for this collection was America with a twist on global fashion. I just thought, “Well, what’s summer? What speaks ‘summer’ to me?” and integrated a lot of my staple designs into this summer world.

No, it’s not *just* because we’re big fans and that’s when the regular season really starts to pick up. Inking deals with major sneaker houses like Nike and Adidas are still the bread and butter of your current NBA player, but now, thanks to talented stylists and a general shift in attitude toward more adventurous looks, basketball’s best and brightest are also being looked to as legitimate fashion icons, adding brands like Barneys New York and Del Toro to the collab roster. On this episode of House Of Style, we take a closer look at the growing relationship between basketball and fashion.

IDK about you, but I was REALLY feeling a lot of the looks on the 2014 VMA red carpet. There was a distinct lack of normcore, with most of the PYTs hitting the carpet swaddling themselves in high fashion designer duds (most of it custom), and MAN, were their efforts worth it. Let’s take a closer look at who really turned it out!

Nicki Minaj slinked down the carpet in a snake print gold mini by Saint Laurent. Completely sparkly and a large bold print, it was wild compared to other looks we saw tonight, but still pretty tame compared to 100% of her previous VMA looks.
