Will Robin Thicke’s ‘Get Her Back’ Video Work On Paula Patton?

by 39 mins ago

Robin Thicke’s quest to win back estranged wife Paula Patton continues today (June 23) with the release of “Get Her Back,” a vulnerable piece of work that leaves the “Blurred Lines” singer bloodied and alone by video’s end.

As Thicke swirls through a series of emotional states — from defeated to enraged — some highly personal text messages flash onscreen, like “I kept trying to warn you you were pushing me too far…” and “I don’t even know who you are.” Refusing to throw in the towel, Thicke texts back with “This is just the beginning,” and then the screen goes white.

Just the beginning, eh? While we’ll just have to wait to see what moves Thicke has plotted next, we do know that his seventh studio album, Paula, drops on July 1. Lead single “Get Her Back” isn’t the only track inspired by Patton if the track list — containing songs titles like “Love Can Grow Back” and “Still Madly Crazy” — is any indication.

Jessica Simpson’s Paparazzi-Dodging Maneuvers Sure Are Sexy

by 13 hours ago

After allegedly breaking Instagram with nothing more than a couple of bathing suit photos, it’s probably not a bad idea for Jessica Simpson to keep a low profile every now and then.

Perhaps that’s why the singer/actress/media empress/world-traveling investigative journalist (see “Jessica Simpson’s The Price Of Beauty”) shied away from the paparazzi while inside of a vehicle, a moment she captured and Instagrammed on Saturday (June 21). With great power comes great responsibility, and thankfully Jessica knows to wield her beauty wisely.

And yes, I know that’s a line from “Spider-Man,” but whatever — it’s a good quote!

jessica simpsonInstagram

Speaking of wielding her beauty wisely, the 33-year-old mother of two turned her paparazzi-dodging into a totally campaign-worthy model moment just for fiance Eric Johnson. “Hiding from the paparazzi, so why not pose for Eric?” reads the caption. Why not, indeed.

She’s still “Irresistible” after all these years.

Kristin Chenoweth And Lea Michele Team Up For An Epic ‘Wicked’ Duet

by 10 mins ago

On Saturday night (June 21), living Broadway legend and font of ever-flowing perkiness Kristin Chenoweth was inducted into the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame, along with Pink Martini and The Go-Go’s. After performing “I Could Have Danced All Night” from “My Fair Lady” and “Popular” from “Wicked” — Chenoweth originated the role of Glinda on Broadway, FYI — the honoree was joined onstage by “Glee” star Lea Michele to duet another selection from the “Wizard Of Oz”-inspired musical, “For Good.”

Before they began to sing, Michele recounted what an inspirational figure Chenoweth has been to her, not to mention what a joy she was to work with on “Glee.” The “Cannonball” singer also shared a story about how Chenoweth comforted her following the passing of her late boyfriend, Cory Monteith: “Last summer, I got an email from Kristin, and she said that ‘Music will heal everything.’ And at the time, I really didn’t quite get how that could be possible, but it really did. And so, a year later, to be here on this stage singing with her is such a blessing and such an honor.”

And you thought you were gonna get through Sunday without shedding a single tear, didn’t you?

Here’s Why Ariana Grande’s Been So Obsessed With Space Stuff

by 10 hours ago

Remember that full-on “Barbarella” blackout Ariana Grande had last week on Instagram, posting photo after photo of Jane Fonda in the campy sci-fi classic, along with some visuals of a few more retro, space-age vixens? After much online speculation that the pics had something to do with her next music video, the “Problem” singer confirmed the news on Saturday (June 21) in a series of tweets.

Not only that, the 20-year-old artist revealed that the single is titled “Break Free” and features Zedd, the EDM prodigy and MTV Artist To Watch alum whose production on tracks like “Clarity,” “Stay The Night,” and “Find You” has made him an all-but-inescapable presence on pop radio.

With their powers combined, “Break Free” is probably going to be huge — like, “Blurred Lines” turkey on “Get Lucky” bread slathered in spicy “Someone Like You” mayo huge. Are we ready? I think not.

First, Ariana posted this Photoshopped, turquoise-haired selfie, along with a string of emojis that roughly translates to “Hey girl, from space.”

After a fan said she looked like a “galactic space princess,” Ari hinted there’d be “more where that came from soon,” along with the hashtag #breakfree.

Wait, so what is “#breakfree”? Ariana’s next tweet confirmed that it’s the name of her new single featuring Zedd.

Oh my god, when are we getting it?! Oh, “sooner than u think.” Infinite lineface, Ms. Grande. :I

Adam Levine Calls ‘Bullsh-t’ On Those Rolling Stone Comments

by 26 mins ago

When not fronting the hugely successful band Maroon 5 (maybe you’ve heard of them?), Adam Levine likes to just take it easy. If your definition of “taking it easy” translates to coaching contestants on “The Voice,” a nationally broadcasted music competition that airs two seasons a year, that is.

I caught up with Adam this week to find out everything I could about the series’ seventh season, which is shooting right now and will air this fall on NBC. But first, I had to ask him about some comments of his that were recently published in Rolling Stone: “‘The Voice’ is very successful, but it’s got a ways to go if it wants to have as profound an impact as ‘Idol.’ I’m not going to lie to you: I think there are problems… Millions of people watch the show every week and fall in love with a singer, then you don’t hear much from them.”

For his part, the “Maps” singer contends that those quotes were “taken out of context,” although he wasn’t keen on diving too deeply into clarifying what he actually meant. “The more I say, the more it’s taken out of context. I’d rather not discuss that.” Fair enough. “Yeah, it was bullsh-t. I was pissed off about it, but it’s all good.” BRB, wiping the sweat off my brow.

As for the next batch of “The Voice,” Adams shared that “Season 7 is far and away the best season we’ve ...

Sam Smith Covers Whitney Houston: Cue All The Tears

by 41 mins ago

Just when I thought I was out of the feelings game, Sam Smith pulls me back in. The MTV Artist To Watch popped by SiriusXM Hits 1 recently, and recorded a beyond-vulnerable cover of Whitney Houston’s ’80s classic, “How Will I Know.”

In contrast to the original’s infectious rhythm, the U.K. crooner’s version is slowed down considerably, recasting “How Will I Know” as a bittersweet lament of unrequited love. Totally Sam’s M.O., as anyone who has listened wept along to his debut studio album, In The Lonely Hour, can tell you.

Even though there’s a piano accompanying the “Stay With Me” singer, it’s Sam’s voice that’s the star of this video. As he recently told The FADER: “I’m so passionate about the singing voice… What I’m trying to do actually with my album is show that it’s my voice that’s leading. It’s my voice that’s the instrument.”

Well, all that weeping has certainly drained my feelings reservoir. I think I, like, physically need to listen to Whitney’s original “How Will I Know” on repeat for a few hours to build back that serotonin.

Taylor Swift Wraps Her Red Tour With An Epic ‘All Too Well’ Hair Flip, Fans Tweet Through The Tears

by 06/12/14

Earlier today (June 12), Taylor Swift performed her final Red Tour show at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, wrapping what was truly a massive, 15-month, globe-trotting endeavor. Let’s all have a moment of silence. Pour out a cup of Earl Grey if you’ve got it.

Along with the end of the fourth-album Red era, this show marked the last time that needlepoint enthusiast Taylor Swift would sit down at her red piano to perform the powerful ballad, “All Too Well” — at least for the time being. You know, the song she always goes all whiplash-heavy on? Brace for sympathy pangs!

Understandably, this is all a lot for the Swifties to process. From hashtagging #LongLiveREDTour to cycling through the entire spectrum of human emotion, here’s a sampling of the most feels-heavy fan reactions to the end Red Tour performances of “All Too Well.”

Listen To ‘Emotions,’ Jennifer Lopez’s Appropriately Titled Album Teaser

by 06/11/14

Top-tier entertainer and noted tight-pants enthusiast Jennifer Lopez has released a teaser for her upcoming eighth studio album, A.K.A., featuring new song “Emotions.”

Where does the track fall on a scale of one to weeping? Well, let’s just say that if I were ashamed to cry in public, I would be very, very ashamed right now.

As the black and white video cuts between gloriously flaw-free close-ups and wider shots at a piano, J. Lo navigates the vulnerable lyrics: “You’re playing games, playing games/ Now I’m taking names, taking names now/ And I don’t play no more, baby, this is game over.” Paging “Mortal Kombat,” because flawless victory.

Look for “Emotions,” “First Love,” “I Luh Ya Papi” featuring French Montana, “Acting Like That” featuring Iggy Azalea, and general mass panic and emotional hysteria when Ms. Lopez’s A.K.A. drops on June 17.

Shailene Woodley & Ansel Elgort Give Into Love In Charli XCX’s Dreamy ‘Boom Clap’ Video

by 06/02/14

You know what it’s like to fall hard for someone (or something, like John Green’s “The Fault In Our Stars”?) The helium-high vibes, that floating feeling, all that aimless wandering and smiling at anyone regardless of whether you know them — Charli XCX channels all of that and some must-see moments of Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort as “The Fault In Our Stars”‘ star-crossed teenaged lovers Hazel and Gus in her new video for “Boom Clap.”

The Sing J. Lee-directed clip takes the viewer on a gorgeous, blissed-out stroll through the Amsterdam city, following the “SuperLove” singer over rivers, under bridges, into a junkyard, through a carnival, and into the back of an LED-equipped van.

“Boom Clap” is featured on the “Fault In Our Stars” film adaptation’s soundtrack — along with Ed Sheeran‘s “All Of The Stars” and Lykke Li‘s “No One Has Ever Loved.”

Despite Charli’s heart radiating onomatopoeia, she walks the Dutch city alone, which is fine considering Gus and Hazel’s love is almost too much to bear.

Charli XCX’s uplifting “Boom Clap” celebrates Hazel and Gus the way they should be enjoyed — forever young and forever in love.
