South African rap-rave duo Die Antwoord have never been ones to shy away from controversial imagery, so, um, why would they start now?
Their new video for “Pitbull Terrier” opens on Yo-Landi Vi$$er surveying the cityscape below her as Ninja, looking like some kind of human-canine hybrid, chases down his prey: an actor styled to look a whole lot like Pitbull.

Ninja, who directed the video, then proceeds to eat Mr. Worldwide alive — needless to say, NSFW. It’s kind of interesting to note that Ninja’s jacket is emblazoned with the letters “PITBULL FANBOY,” so maybe there’s some kind of hidden meaning in the visual about fans devouring their idols? Something tells me that Pitbull won’t bother sticking with the Donker Mag clip long enough to find out.
This isn’t the first time that Die Antwoord have courted controversy in the pop world with their music videos. Back in 2012, they parodied Lady Gaga in “Fatty Boom Boom,” but I kinda don’t feel like explaining their “satire” because Yo-Landi performed in what many identified as blackface for part of that clip. #facepalm
Downtown Music, LLCWhat do you think? Are Die Antwoord coming for Pitbull, or was the “Timber” performer simply in the wrong video at the wrong time? Watch the super-NSFW video below, and let me know in the comments.
