George R.R. Martin Teases Major Deaths In Next ‘Game Of Thrones’ Book

by 18 mins ago

The Stranger comes for us all eventually, and soon, it’ll come for some of your favorite characters in the world of Westeros.

George R.R. Martin, author of the “A Song of Ice and Fire” novels that inspire “Game of Thrones,” recently spoke about how the upcoming sixth book in the series, “The Winds of Winter,” will have no trouble lopping off the heads of some of the more prominent figures in the ongoing feud between the men and women north, south and east of the Wall.

“The way my books are structured, everyone was together, then they all went their separate ways and the story deltas out like that,” he said, “and now it’s getting to the point where the story is beginning to delta back in, and the viewpoint characters are occasionally meeting up with each other now and being in the same point at the same time, which gives me a lot more flexibility for killing people.”

Well, that’s alarming. Not unexpected, but alarming. Which viewpoint characters are in close enough proximity to other viewpoint characters to be considered endangered? Here are a few possibilities, based on where everyone is at the end of “A Dance with Dragons.”

BUT FIRST, A WARNING!

All events through the end of “A Dance with Dragons,” and preview chapters from “The Winds of Winter,” are fair game from this point forward. If you only watch “Game of Thrones” the show, and haven’t read the books, there are big-time spoilers ahead. Proceed carefully!

7 ‘Harry Potter’ Veterans Who Need To Find ‘Fantastic Beasts’

by 1 min ago

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” is beginning to look a lot like “Harry Potter.”

From “Potter” studio Warner Bros., written by “Potter” creator J.K. Rowling, and potentially directed by four-time “Potter” director David Yates, the upcoming “Potter” spinoff certainly has a lot in common with, you guessed it, “Potter.” And we hope the fun doesn’t stop there. As “Fantastic Beasts” continues taking shape, there are tons of other people and elements, fictional and otherwise, from the original “Potter” movies we hope to see on board the new series of films.

Here are seven of those “Potter” veterans we want to see in “Fantastic Beasts”:

1. John Williams

He composed and conducted the first three “Potter” films, including the series’ iconic theme. While he doesn’t need to compose the entire “Fantastic Beasts” score, it would be fantastic to have him on board to at least establish the central theme that will permeate the rest of the music.

2. Albus Dumbledore

Born in 1881, the late Hogwarts headmaster was alive and well (and young!) during the days of Newt Scamander. If there’s any one character from “Potter” lore who can and should pop up in “Fantastic Beasts” in a meaningful way, it’s Dumbledore, especially as a vibrant young wizard.

3. Warwick Davis

He’s played multiple roles in the “Potter” movies, as Professor Flitwick and as numerous goblins, including the greedy Griphook. Given the timeline of “Fantastic Beasts,” Davis wouldn’t be likely to reprise either of those roles, but he ...

‘Sin City: A Dame To Kill For’ Reviews: Is The Sequel Worth Seeing?

by 5 mins ago

“Sin City” is the place you go with your eyes open, or you don’t come out at all. But is it even worth going to in the first place?

The next film in the series, “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For,” arrives in theaters this weekend, and critics seem divided right down the middle on whether or not it’s worth your time. What worked in the past seems to work this time around: Stylized action and visual storytelling, with tough guy performances, bone-breaking and blood-spilling action, and nudity aplenty. But for other critics, “A Dame to Kill For” feels like too much more of the same old story — and in the case of some critics, that’s a very bad thing indeed.

For the most part, however, reviews are widely positive for the performance (and the visage) of Eva Green, who plays titular dame Ava Lord, starring in her second Frank Miller-inspired project of the year — and as was the case with “300: Rise of an Empire,” it appears that Green steals the show in “A Dame to Kill For.”

Read on for a collection of “Sin City” reviews:

The Story of “Sin City”
“For Sin City fans, ‘A Dame to Kill For’ will likely feel like revisiting an old friend. As with the first, the film interweaves a collection of Frank Miller’s Sin City tales; two pre-existing – ‘Just Another Saturday Night’ and ‘A Dame to Kill For’ – and two original stories written specifically for the film – ‘The Long ...

These 7 Bryan Cranston And Aaron Paul Reunions Need To Happen Now

by 15 mins ago

The world is a cruel place.

First, it gives us “Breaking Bad.” Then, it takes “Breaking Bad” away. Then, it reunites Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul for “Barely Legal Pawn,” a new TV series where the former Albuquerque drug kingpins trade in their meth lab for a pawn shop, with an illicit (but adorable) business on the side. And then, it turns out that “Barely Legal Pawn” is nothing more than a teaser for the Emmys, and not an actual TV series.

Once again, for emphasis: The world is a cruel place.

But cruelty be damned — there has to be a way for Cranston and Paul to reunite for a longer stretch than an admittedly brilliant but sadly short six-minute video, right? Right.

World, lend us your ear and hear us out — these are seven Cranston-Paul reunions that needed to happen, like, yesterday.

1. Full Fledged “Barely Legal Pawn” Series

I mean, that was pretty damn good. How hard would it be for HBO to pump out “Barely Legal Pawn” as an eight-episode half-hour mockumentary series? Give us what we want, world!

2. A “Malcolm in the Middle” Reboot

A shot-for-shot remake of every episode, with all the same actors, except Aaron Paul replacing Frankie Muniz. Muniz can be co-showrunner with Vince Gilligan.

3. “Better Call Saul”

An actual, likely possibility, albeit not for a good little while. The “Breaking Bad” spinoff is said to feature a flexible timeline, with scenes taking place before, after and during the AMC Emmy darling. With ...

Find Out When ‘Sons Of Anarchy’ Will End

by 7 mins ago

The Sons Of Anarchy Motorcycle Club — Redwood Original hits the road for one final ride beginning next month, and now, we know when the ride will end.

Entertainment Weekly reports that the final episode of FX’s “Sons of Anarchy” will air on Tuesday, December 2. It marks the end of an extreme era of violence, heartbreak, and utter mayhem. Hopefully, not Unser mayhem — at least one character deserves a happy ending here, right?

But even with only a handful of episodes left in sight, “Sons” won’t disappear forever, as creator Kurt Sutter plans to move forward with an “Anarchy” prequel series focused on the club’s founding fathers.

“The prequel will be about the origins of John Teller and Piney Winston,” Sutter said at Comic-Con. “I don’t know if it’ll be a full-on series. It might just be a miniseries. But our hope is to let the mythology rest for a couple of seasons, and then we’ll come back and do the prequel. We’re having conversations about that.”

Additionally, the day after “Sons” airs its finale, the world of Charming, California, will expand even further in the form of “Sons of Anarchy: The Official Collector’s Edition,” a behind-the-scenes companion book designed to tell you everything you need to know about SAMCRO. It’s available for pre-order now, releasing on December 3.

“Sons of Anarchy” begins its final season on September 9.

Seven Hells hath no fury like a Westerosi woman scorned.

Some of the most powerful women of the Seven Kingdoms of “Game of Thrones” have come to stunning life thanks to a series of minimalist GIFs making the rounds on Tumblr, courtesy of faramircaptainofgondor. The series sees familiar characters like Daenerys Targaryen, Margaery Tyrell and Cersei Lannister, as well as some less familiar characters, poised with power, their facial features removed, with the most identifiable traits of their respective houses on full display.

See some examples for yourself, then check out the Tumblr for even more.

Robin Williams ‘Absolutely’ Finished His Final Film

by 33 mins ago

In the wake of Robin Williams’ death, there was some doubt about whether or not the Oscar-winning actor completed his voice-over work on “Absolutely Anything,” the British comedy starring Simon Pegg as an everyman transfused with extraordinary powers, thanks to alien tampering. Williams was set to voice Dennis the Dog, Pegg’s character’s talking pet, but comments made by Pegg raised questions about whether or not Williams’ performance was finished.

Thankfully, those fears aren’t panning out. Producers Bill Jones and Ben Timlett released a joint statement (via Empire) to clear the air, saying Williams very much finished recording his performance as Dennis the Dog.

“Contrary to reports, we are able to confirm that Robin Williams completed his voice work recording for the role of Dennis,” they say. “Everyone on the ‘Absolutely Anything’ team was distraught to hear the sad news and we send our condolences to Robin’s family.”

Williams still has four films remaining to be released: “Merry Friggin’ Christmas” with Joel McHale, “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb” with Ben Stiller, and “Boulevard,” which premiered earlier this year at the Tribeca Film Festival.

“Absolutely Anything” is expected to hit theaters in 2015.

Tom Cruise Initiates ‘Mission: Impossible’ Ice Bucket Challenge Protocol

by 1 min ago

There isn’t a whole lot that Tom Cruise isn’t willing to try. He made that point terrifyingly clear by scaling the world’s tallest building, Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, for a climactic sequence in “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol.” Now, on the set of “Mission: Impossible 5,” Cruise is ready to accept another challenge — and this time, it’s sending shivers down his spine.

Not because the challenge is terrifying, mind you, but because it’s ice-cold. Cruise, alongside new “Mission: Impossible” director (and Cruise’s “Jack Reacher” collaborator) Christopher McQuarrie, accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge on behalf of the entire “Mission: Impossible” cast and crew, just days ahead of the official start of filming.

But even though he’s about to return to his role as IMF agent Ethan Hunt, Cruise’s Ice Bucket Challenge video has a little bit more in common with his live-die-repeat performance in “Edge of Tomorrow.” Watch the video for yourself, and you’ll see what I mean:

Cruise and McQuarrie’s “Mission: Impossible” sequel hits theaters on December 25, 2015.

Are Arnold Shwarzenegger And Jet Li Dating In ‘The Expendables 3′?

by 19 mins ago

Warning: “Expendables 3” Spoilers Ahead!

Sylvester Stallone’s “Expendables” series is all about sending up action heroes of yesterday, often tasking stars like Arnold Schwarzenegger with revisiting their classic lines, like “Get to the choppa,” twice in one act. (Seriously, watch “Expendables 3.” It’s a thing that happens.)

But sometimes, the “Expendables” films subvert the expectations that fans bring to the table. Case in point, once again by way of Schwarzenegger: After regularly getting the girl in his films, the macho ex-Governator gets the guy in “Expendables 3.”

During the final scene of the film, the various Expendables gather together at their favorite bar, drinking and hanging out and celebrating their latest victory. Stallone’s Barney Ross encounters Schwarzenegger’s Trench Mauser and Trench’s sidekick, Jet Li’s Yin Yang, getting cozy. Barney advises them to “get a room.” The ribbing only causes Trench and Yang to tighten their embrace. “We don’t need a room,” Trench laughs back.

It’s a throwaway moment that could go over some viewers’ heads, but according to director Patrick Hughes, it’s confirmation that Trench and Yang are dating. “I believe they are,” he tells Grantland, in a tone described as if the filmmaker “just got away with something amazing.”

Schwarzenegger and Li’s on-screen relationship is barely explored in “Expendables 3,” as the two are relegated to little more than glorified cameos, Li especially. And it’s not likely to be the subject of an “Expendables 4,” if such a movie even comes to pass; ...

The 7 ‘Harry Potter’ Stories J.K. Rowling Must NEVER Release

by 6 mins ago

Ask most “Harry Potter” fans, and they’ll agree: J.K. Rowling returning to the Wizarding World with new short stories is very good, and very fun.

In the past two months, Rowling released a follow-up to the “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” epilogue, penned from the perspective of Rita Skeeter. Yesterday, she released a short biography centered on Celestina Warbeck, aka the Singing Sorceress. These new entries in the “Harry Potter” universe are more than welcome. If Rowling wants to continue expanding the universe past the events of “Deathly Hallows,” we’re more than happy to keep checking in on Harry, Hermione, Ron and the rest.

However, we encourage Rowling to mind the words of Uncle Ben: “With great power, comes great responsibility.” There are some “Harry Potter” follow-ups that should never be told. There are some stories too heartbreaking to reveal. Some secrets must stay buried forever.

These are the seven “Harry Potter” stories that Rowling must never release.

(Warning: Things are about to get dark.)

1. Surprise! Wizard Prankster Fred Weasley Still Alive!

As it turns out, Fred did not die at the Battle of Hogwarts. He faked his death, with the help of twin brother George, as part of an elaborate prank revealed during the brothers’ 50th birthday. Until that revelation, the two had been “Christian Bale-ing it,” ala “The Prestige.” Upon returning to public life, Fred was reinstated as official co-owner of Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes, leaving younger brother Ron without ...
