An Ode To That Guy: Character Actors Are People, Too

by 22 mins ago

Listen up, people. That Guy From That Thing has something to tell you.

No, not that Guy From That Thing. The other Guy From That Thing.

See? This is the problem. You can’t keep your character actors straight. But they’re people, too, and they want to make sure you know it. Hence this PSA from Entertainment Weekly, informing the masses about the very real prejudices that character actors like Rob Corddry and David Costabile face on a daily basis:

These people aren’t just villains, co-workers, best friends, or other thankless roles. These people are people. People with names. Names we can’t remember, but darn it, we’re gonna try.

Maybe we’d remember if they tried a French accent?

Norman Reedus, Guillermo Del Toro Bringing ‘Silent Hill’ Back To Life

by 4 mins ago

And just like that, “Silent Hill” became a must-watch property again.

Two years after the most recent installment in the series, a new “Silent Hill” video game has been announced, and the talent involved is, in a word, huge. “The Walking Dead” star Norman Reedus is set to lend his voice and likeness to “Silent Hills,” a mysterious new video game from “Metal Gear Solid” mastermind Hideo Kojima, and legendary filmmaker Guillermo del Toro.

Reedus and del Toro’s involvement in the “Silent Hill” series was revealed through an interactive “playable teaser” released yesterday on the PlayStation Store. The so-called “P.T.” sees players walking through a rundown apartment, the rooms warping and deteriorating until finally giving way to the world outside — revealing a man walking down a dark and empty street… a man with the unmistakable face of Norman Reedus.

See the reveal for yourself:

There’s no word on when “Silent Hills” will be available, and no word on how exactly del Toro is involved. No story details, no character details — not a whole lot just yet. But this is one of those cases where the names of the talent involved are more than enough to get the wheels spinning out of control with excitement.

Yes, An ‘Aquaman’ Movie Is Actually Happening

by 2 mins ago

The folks at Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment are lining up some new superhero projects, one of which is absolutely swimming.

That’s right: “Aquaman” is happening. For real.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, there are two different writers working on two separate visions of an “Aquaman” feature film: Will Beall, writer of “Gangster Squad” and once leaned on to write a “Justice League” adaptation; and Kurt Johnstad, who has comic book movie experience in the form of the “300″ and “300: Rise of an Empire” screenplays.

It’s all but confirmed that Jason Momoa of “Game of Thrones” and “Conan” fame will star as Arthur Curry, the trident-wielding King of Atlantis better known to mortals as Aquaman. The character has been the butt of many jokes over the years, but recent comic book interpretations of Aquaman have presented a grittier take on the character. It’s expected that Momoa’s Aquaman will first surface in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” a rumor reinforced by director Zack Snyder’s recent comments on a radio show.

“The cool thing with Aquaman is he’s Triton, so you have to realize that could cut the flesh of Superman if they came in contact,” he said. “That’s a thing that’s in the canon. He’s super strong cause of course he can exist at these super deep depths, so when he comes up here he’s crazy strong.”

Who knows when we’ll get an official announcement regarding Momoa, or “Aquaman” at large. There are tons of DC Comics movies on ...

Directed by Tristram Shapeero and written by Phil Johnson, “Merry Friggin’ Christmas” follows a man (played by Joel McHale) who has to salvage his family’s Christmas when he leaves all of his son’s gifts back at home. To rescue the holiday, he embarks on an eight-hour round-trip road-trip alongside his father, played by Williams. The comedy arrives on November 7.

“You were one of the very best that ever was,” McHale wrote on Twitter in response to Williams’ death. “You were one of my heroes.”

Once again, Williams returns to the role of Teddy Roosevelt in the third entry in the “Night at the Museum” series, due out in theaters on December 19. The latest film in the series takes place in London, with Williams’ Roosevelt reuniting with Ben Stiller’s security guard Larry Daley for one last adventure.

“His impact on the world was so positive,” Stiller wrote on Twitter about Williams. “He did so much good for people. He made me and so many people laugh so hard ...

Check Out The First ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Reviews

by 1 min ago

The pizza party looms.

At the end of the week, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” arrives to kick shell, take names, and chow down on all of the toppings. Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo get some help from Megan Fox and Will Arnett in their latest live-action incarnation, but should you join in on the fight as well?

Here’s a small slice of what critics are saying about the new “Ninja Turtles” movie, based on the first reviews that just arrived this week:

The (Somewhat Spoilery) Story
“We open on New York City besieged with the Foot Clan’s crime wave, and TV reporter April O’Neil (Megan Fox) attempting to break some actual news in the case so she can stop doing fluffball pieces about exercise trends. Despite the protests of her lovestruck comic-relief cameraman Vernon (Will Arnett), April goes running into a subway station that screaming people are fleeing, where she spots not only Foot-soldiers but also four shadowy figures fighting back.

“They turn out to be our titular heroes, and in this telling, it turns out they were once April’s pets, part of an experiment being conducted by her scientist father alongside industry mogul Eric Sachs (William Fichtner). During the mysterious fire that cost her father his life, young April set the four turtles and a rat free in the sewers, where they grew up into bi-pedal mutant creatures who studied the ways of the ninja. Sachs, who has pledged to support the NYPD in their battle against the Foot Clan, is thrilled ...

Chris Pratt Is A Real Star In This New ‘Jurassic World’ Photo

by 6 mins ago

Chris Pratt is the man behind the mask in “Guardians of the Galaxy” this weekend, but soon enough, he’ll be the man battling dinosaurs in “Jurassic World.”

Timed with today’s release of “Guardians,” Colin Trevorrow, director of “Jurassic World,” has released a new picture from his upcoming installment in the “Jurassic Park” series, all about the Pratt, Pratt, Pratt. It’s nothing too fancy — no dinosaurs, no other characters, and not even a single one of Pratt’s now historic abs. But we’ll surely get an even better look when the man currently known as Star-Lord takes aim at a bunch of velociraptors next summer.

“Jurassic World” lands on June 15, 2015.

Watch The First ‘Mockingjay’ Teaser: Katniss Strikes Back

by 27 mins ago

She’s on fire!

Katniss Everdeen and the rebellion strike back at the Capitol of Panem in the first official teaser trailer for “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1,” the first film in the two-part finale of the “Hunger Games” franchise.

After one eerie propoganda video featuring a nefarious President Snow and an enigmatically aligned Peeta, and an equally energized response from the Rebellion, the newest teaser shows a much better look at the third “Hunger Games” film — making it clear we’re worlds removed from the Quarter Quell, and onto something much more dangerous.

Evangeline Lilly Says She Isn’t In ‘Ant-Man,’ But She Totally Is

by 25 mins ago

For Evangeline Lilly, the rules of starring in “Ant-Man” are simple:

Rule #1: Don’t talk about “Ant-Man.”

Rule #2: Don’t talk about “Ant-Man.”

The “Lost” veteran, appearing at San Diego Comic-Con to promote her new children’s book, “The Squickerwonkers,” is taking a page from the “Fight Club” playbook when it comes to her involvement in the upcoming Marvel Studios superhero movie. For months, Lilly has been linked to a lead role in the Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas-starring comic book film, though her participation has not been officially confirmed by Marvel — and as such, Lilly’s taking the “lips sealed” approach to discussing all things “Ant-Man.”

“I don’t know what that’s about,” she told MTV about appearing in “Ant-Man.” “This is the first time I’m hearing about that idea.”

The look on Lilly’s face and tone in her voice makes it pretty clear that her comments and the truth are not the same thing. Take a look for yourself and see:

Put it in the bank: Lilly is in “Ant-Man.”
