Marvel Studios Announces Yet Another New Movie For 2018

by 22 mins ago

If you’re a fan of the Marvel movies, you’ll be a fan of this news: Marvel has added yet another new mystery movie to its release schedule.

Late last week, Marvel Studios announced a slew of release dates from 2016 through 2019, with the biggest attention-getter being the fact that in 2017, Marvel will release three movies. That’s a big break from the tradition of two movies per year, but it’s also a possibility that Marvel has openly wondered about for quite some time.

As if making the move to release three movies in 2017 wasn’t a big enough deal, Marvel is doubling (tripling?) down by announcing a third release date in 2018 — which means the studio behind “Avengers” will unleash six brand new movies over the course of two years.

Here’s the official lineup of future Marvel movies as it stands:

August 1, 2014 — “Guardians of the Galaxy”
May 1, 2015 — “The Avengers: Age of Ultron”
July 17, 2015 — “Ant-Man”
May 6, 2016 — “Captain America 3″
July 8, 2016 — Unconfirmed (But rumored to be “Doctor Strange”)
May 5, 2017 — Unconfirmed
July 27, 2017 — Unconfirmed
November 3, 2017 — Unconfirmed
May 4, 2018 — Unconfirmed
July 6, 2018 — Unconfirmed
November 2, 2018 — Unconfirmed
May 3, 2019 — Unconfirmed

That’s a whole lot of Marvel between “Guardians” and 2019, and all we can really do is speculate on which movies we’ll see in those unconfirmed spots. But man, can we speculate! It seems like a “Thor” sequel is a foregone conclusion, as is a “Guardians of the Galaxy” sequel, and a ...

New ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Poster Means Business

by 36 mins ago

In less than a month, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” lands in theaters, bringing the heroes in a half-shell back to live-action life for the first time in years.

Well, sort of live-action; the Turtles themselves are brought to life through performance capture, left to interact with human faces like Megan Fox as April O’Neil, Will Arnett as Vernon Fenwick, and William Fichtner as Shredder.

But fans will head to “Ninja Turtles” for the titular heroes themselves, and today’s brand new poster is all about those hard-partying, pizza-demolishing warriors. Except there’s no pizza or party times in sight here — right now, it’s all business.

Paramount

In addition to the new poster, there’s a new “Ninja Turtles” music video to listen to as well: Wiz Khalifa’s “Shell Shocked,” featuring Juicy J and Ty Dolla $ign, but sadly no Vanilla Ice, because we’re a long way from 1990.

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” arrives on August 8.

Is John Boyega Playing A [SPOILER] In The New ‘Star Wars’ Movie?

by 7 mins ago

Warning: Possible “Star Wars” spoilers ahead.

With more than a year standing between us and “Star Wars: Episode VII,” it’s only a matter of time before character and story information about the sci-fi saga’s comeback start to unravel.

In fact, that time might be now. Over the weekend, one report emerged about how “Episode VII” begins — literally, its opening shot — and how that bit of information jumpstarts the rest of the film, including how it brings Han Solo and Chewbacca back into the mix.

Now, Badass Digest is offering up even more information on “Episode VII,” specifically as it pertains to John Boyega’s character. If you don’t want to know who Boyega is playing in the new movie, now would be the time to turn away.

According to BAD, Boyega is playing …

… one of these guys. Cue up your “isn’t Boyega a little short to be a storm trooper” jokes now.

The report says Boyeaga plays a storm trooper who “deserts and teams up with Daisy Ridley’s character.” What’s a storm trooper still doing in the galaxy far, far away, considering that Luke Skywalker and his fellow rebels squashed the Empire by the time the “Return of the Jedi” end credits rolled? Maybe it’s not as simple as all that. Maybe the Empire remains active, or storm troopers have been repurposed in some way. Regardless, Devin Faraci of BAD reports that Boyega as a storm trooper is “the single most confirmed piece of news I’ve ever written about ...

21 Characters Who Need To Attend The ‘Avengers’ Party

by 3 mins ago

Tony Stark’s having a party. Didn’t you get the invitation?

New information about “The Avengers: Age of Ultron” reveals that ol’ Shellhead’s throwing a shindig, designed to help Earth’s mightiest heroes shmooze with some bigwigs. Outside of the core Avengers squad, there are plenty of Marvel Cinematic Universe characters we hope to see at Tony’s party — especially considering we know that James “Rhodey” Rhodes, aka War Machine, will definitely be in attendance.

Aside from the Avengers and War Machine, here are the 21 people we want to see at Tony’s grand gathering at Avengers Tower:

1. Pepper Potts

RASPUTIN

If Rhodey’s in town, Pepper can’t be far behind. Not cool to invite the best pal but leave the loved one behind — and Tony Stark doesn’t do “not cool.”

2. Sam Wilson

sam_wilson

If best friends are tagging along as plus ones, then there’s no one better for Captain America to bring along than the Falcon — although he might want to keep an eye on his stars and stripes.

3. Peggy Carter

peggy_carter

There’s no better time for that last dance.

4. Phil Coulson

CLARK GREGG

Everyone thinks he’s dead, but he’s not, as “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” fans are well aware. What better opportunity than Tony Stark’s Avengers party to come out and surprise the people who thought they saw him die?

5. Hank Pym

???????????????????????????????????

He’s not the designer of Ultron in the movies, but he is the designer of Ultron in the ...

The Falcon Is Marvel’s New ‘Captain America’

by 27 mins ago

Step aside, Steve Rogers. There’s a new Captain America in town — and he’s one of your best friends!

After making the big announcement about the new female Thor, Marvel Entertainment doubled down this week by announcing a new hero taking over the star-spangled mantle from Rogers: Sam Wilson, better known as the high-flying Falcon.

Falcon is the new Captain AmericaMarvel Comics

Wilson takes on Cap’s stars, stripes and shield in the pages of “All-New Captain America” #1, written by Rick Remender and illustrated by Stuart Immonen. The exact specifics behind Falcon’s promotion aren’t yet known, but one thing is already clear: The only thing better than a shield-slinging superhero is a shield-slinging superhero with wings.

“Historically, Falcon would often act as air support, flying Steve into the battle. Why not merge the two?” Remender tells Marvel.com. “He pops the wings, and as he flies, he keeps the shield latched onto his back. He dives down onto the scene, hurls the shield, wings retract, and rolls into a kick or jump, catches the shield on the way back. He doesn’t have the super soldier serum, but he has the added zing-zang-zoom of flight.”

This is the first time Falcon has assumed the Captain America name and likeness, though not the first time another hero has stepped into Steve Rogers’ shoes. As recently as seven years ago, Steve Rogers “died,” leaving his former partner and pal Bucky Barnes to take on the Captain America title. Steve eventually ...

Andy Serkis Hulks Out On The ‘Avengers’ Sequel

by 2 mins ago

With Reporting by Josh Horowitz

When it comes to the Hulk in “The Avengers: Age of Ultron,” you’re going to like him when he’s angry — and you’re going to want to thank Andy Serkis.

Mark Ruffalo returns as Bruce Banner and his easily enraged alter-ego, but he’s coming back with a little help from Serkis, the motion-capture legend responsible for Gollum in the “Lord of the Rings” and “Hobbit” films, as well as Caesar in the relaunched “Planet of the Apes” franchise. Serkis and his Imaginarium Studios serve as motion-capture consultants on “Age of Ultron,” focusing mostly on helping Ruffalo bring his Hulk to life.

“As consultants working with him on ‘Avengers,’ we’ve given him platforms for the Hulk, to help him do the best he can do,” Serkis told MTV about his involvement in the “Avengers” sequel. “Certain crews can find it funny having someone walk in who is not in costume. Imagine standing there and you have Iron Man, someone dressed as Thor, and then you come on in a motion-capture suit. You have to be taken seriously.”

Serkis and his team gave Ruffalo the tools to be taken seriously, by working with him and “a digital avatar, and with giving him a voice — literally giving him a voice, with these huge speakers.”

The result should be an even angrier, more awesome Hulk than ever seen before — a pretty impressive feat, considering Hulk was already the breakout star of the first “Avengers” film.

But Andy Serkis is involved in ...

The Final Episode Of ’24′ Didn’t End Well For Jack Bauer

by 44 mins ago

Spoiler Alert: Here’s what happened on the “24: Live Another Day” season finale!

After nine seasons of fighting bad guys and never getting the girl, Jack Bauer finished his “24″ tenure (for now) by repeating history.

While some fans expected Jack Bauer’s death at the end of “24: Live Another Day,” it was another longtime character on the real-time thriller who bit the bullet instead. Audrey Boudreau, Jack’s former flame and the daughter of the President of the United States, was shot and killed, mirroring the season one death of Jack’s wife Teri Bauer.

Audrey’s death sends Bauer into absolute override overdrive, leading him to pull a Drazen against the various Chinese terrorists assisting the legendarily evil Cheng Zhi, the mastermind behind the events of “Live Another Day,” the would-be architect of World War III, and the man who imprisoned and tortured Bauer for over two years. Cheng also tortured Audrey for several years as well, and as the man ultimately responsible for her death, Jack wasn’t walking away without Cheng’s blood on his hands.

Luckily, whatever Jack wants and needs, Jack gets. He kills his way to Cheng, proves to the United States and Chinese governments that Cheng is the man responsible for pitting the two countries against each other, and then proceeds to attain vengeance the only way he knows how — by picking up a nearby samurai sword and beheading Cheng in one deft move. Don’t bother asking why there’s a sword on the boat; it was ...

Andy Serkis Feels ‘Extraordinary’ About The New ‘Star Wars’

by 34 mins ago

With Reporting by Josh Horowitz

A long time ago, in this very galaxy, Andy Serkis and his brother freaked out upon the arrival of “Star Wars” in their lives. Teenage Serkis was just as wowed by the George Lucas film series as anyone, and now, he’s a part of the franchise himself.

Serkis plays an undisclosed role (or roles, possibly, considering the man’s motion-capture talents) in the upcoming “Star Wars: Episode VII,” directed by J.J. Abrams and starring a wide range of actors from franchise newcomers John Boyega and Oscar Isaac to old standbys like Harrison Ford. Speaking with MTV News, Serkis said that getting together with the cast to read the “Episode VII” script for the first time “was quite an extraordinary feeling.”

But there’s one person who is even more excited about Serkis’ work on the film than Serkis himself.

“My brother, who is five years younger than me, this means more to him than anything I’ve ever done in my entire life,” he laughed. “I’m more joyous for him than anything else, in a way.”

Perhaps Serkis’ brother is the man to interrogate when it comes to finding out details about the “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” and “Lord of the Rings” legend’s work on the film. Because for his part, Serkis’ lips are sealed. He would only confirm that Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher are all in top form as they return to their iconic roles as Han Solo, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia, ...

‘Orange is the New Black’ Canceled? Nope, The Internet Is Lying To You Again

by 1 hour ago

Warning: some NSFW language ahead.

Don’t start getting Crazy-Eyes on us here — “Orange is the New Black” is going to be just fine.

However, there was a rumor circulating the Internet this past weekend certain to rile up fans of the Netflix prison-set dark comedy. On Friday, a website called Empire News released word that “OTINB” had been “permanently canceled,” and that starting in September, “past episodes will no longer be available for streaming on Netflix.”

But none of that’s true. Not even a little bit. Empire News is “a satirical and entertainment website,” according to the site’s description. In other words, the article was a hoax. But concerns over the supposed “cancellation” of “Orange is the New Black” grew so great that even the Netflix show’s official Twitter account had to weigh in to clear the air:

So, Netflix is sending Empire to the SHU, while Taystee and Chapman and Red and everyone else continue doing their time on Netflix. There’s no cancellation on the horizon, and the episodes that already exist aren’t going anywhere. In fact, they’re probably earning some Emmy Awards in the near future. If there’s one show you shouldn’t worry about disappearing anytime soon, it’s “Orange is the New Black.”
