‘Dumb And Dumber To’ Trailer: When Harry Met Lloyd… Again

by 06/11/14

“There he is again. Almost two decades, and he still comes.”

Repeatedly throughout the past twenty years, Harry Dunne has visited Lloyd Christmas in a mental institution. Lloyd, now in a wheelchair and sporting hair that would make Jim Carrey circa the 1999 MTV Movie Awards jealous, still reels from the trauma of losing the love of his life, Mary Samsonite Swanson, so many years ago. There’s nothing that Harry can do to shake his oldest friend from his deepest depression.

Unless … it’s all a gag.

The “Dumb and Dumber To” trailer has landed with all of the force of a catheter ripped from your loins, bringing viewers their first look at Carrey as Lloyd and Jeff Daniels as Harry since the 1994 Farrelly Brothers comedy classic. Sadly, it’s not our first time seeing Harry and Lloyd since then, but it’s the first time we’re seeing the true versions — and it looks like they haven’t skipped a beat.

The new movie sees Harry and Lloyd reunited after years of living separate lives. When they return to each other’s arms, they learn that Harry has a secret daughter he never knew about — a secret daughter that just might get Lloyd to forget about his Mary Swanson problems after all.

“Dumb and Dumber To” hits theaters on December 16.

What do you think of the “Dumb and Dumber To” trailer?

Zombies Forever: ‘Walking Dead’ Planned Through Season 12

by 06/10/14

If you’re wondering how much longer AMC can sustain “The Walking Dead,” the answer is … well, quite a while.

During a Produced By panel appearance over the weekend, “Walking Dead” producer David Alpert spoke about the challenges of adapting a long-lasting, successful comic book for television. According to Alpert, using Robert Kirkman’s “Walking Dead” comics as a template for the “Walking Dead” show isn’t a problem — in fact, it leads the way for many more seasons to come.

“I happen to love working from source material, specifically because we have a pretty good idea of what season 10 is gonna be,” Alpert said, according to IndieWire. “We know where season 11 and 12… we have benchmarks and milestones for those seasons if we’re lucky enough to get there.”

Given the show’s massive ratings, “Walking Dead” won’t go anywhere as long as AMC still wants to make it. But with the show only up to its fifth season, how is it possible that producers are already thinking seven seasons into the future?

SPOILERS FOR THE “WALKING DEAD” COMICS AHEAD.

There is plenty of material in Kirkman’s “Walking Dead” comics to keep the show moving along for several years yet. There’s everything that happens at the Alexandria safe zone, including the war against Negan; that could easily stretch out over two seasons or more. And then there’s the two-year time-jump that occurred in the most recent issue of “Walking Dead.” At the moment, the comic shows no signs of slowing down. Why should ...

Shot Through The Heart: Bon Jovi Makes ‘Game Of Thrones’ Twist All Better

by 06/10/14

Warning: Major spoilers from last Sunday’s “Game of Thrones” are ahead!

Kissed by fire, killed by an arrow — that’s the way the cookie crumbled for Ygritte, the wildling warrior who lost her life on “The Watchers on the Wall.”

Jon Snow’s ex-girlfriend died during the wildling raid on Castle Black, just seconds before she could shoot an arrow into her former flame. Young Ollie beat her to the punch, driving an arrow straight through her heart, leaving Ygritte to bleed out and die in Jon’s arms. It was very sad, and further proof that no one can have nice things on “Game of Thrones.”

Sadly, there’s no rewinding the clock on this one, “Edge of Tomorrow” style. Ygritte is dead, dead, dead. But, there are ways of softening the blow, including adding some Bon Jovi to the equation. See for yourself:

Dat head nod.

Do you like this version of Ygritte’s death better than the real thing?

How Did ‘Game Of Thrones’ Pull Off The War At The Wall In The Books?

by 06/09/14

Warning: Spoilers for “The Watchers on the Wall,” and potential spoilers for the future of “Game of Thrones,” are ahead.

Jon Snow and Samwell Tarly just survived the longest night of their lives. But what if the great war at the Wall lasted even longer?

In George R.R. Martin’s “A Storm of Swords,” the novel that “Game of Thrones” season four takes most of its cues from, the battle between the Night’s Watch and Mance Rayder’s army lasts much longer than a single night. In fact, there are a few key differences between the books and how the show handled the conflict in “The Watchers on the Wall.”

For one thing, in the books, there’s a shorter period of time between Jon returning from his undercover assignment with the wildlings, and the wildlings’ assault. When Castle Black is attacked by Ygritte and the Thenns, Jon is still reeling from all of the many arrows he earned after double-crossing Ygritte and the wildlings.

The Night’s Watch is also better prepared in the books than they are in the show — at least, they’re more receptive to Jon’s warnings. That’s because the Watch is led by Donal Noye, a one-armed blacksmith who is acting as Lord Commander in the wake of Jeor Mormont’s death. At this point in the books, Alliser Thorne, serving as Lord Commander on the show, is serving the Watch as master-at-arms of Eastwatch-by-the-sea, the easternmost castle along the Wall.

While Alliser is not the world’s biggest Jon Snow fan in both the ...

‘Game Of Thrones’: 7 Questions About ‘The Watchers On The Wall’

by 06/09/14

Warning: Spoilers for the latest episode of “Game of Thrones” are ahead.

It was the greatest fire the North has ever seen, courtesy of the greatest battle “Game of Thrones” has ever seen.

“The Watchers on the Wall,” directed by Neil Marshall, the man who brought us “Blackwater,” brought more epic-scale fire and bloodshed than any previous hour of “Thrones” to date. Focused entirely on the conflict at the Wall, Jon Snow and his companions were forced to do battle with Mance Rayder’s invading army. We saw giants. We saw Thenns. And we saw people we love lose their lives in horrible and heroic ways.

Now, we have questions — seven of them, to be exact:

1. Did Ygritte Have To Die?
Probably, yeah. Jon Snow and Ygritte’s love was too bright and perfect for the twisted world of Westeros. The moment they met, they were doomed to end in tragedy. The real question is, if young Ollie hadn’t killed Ygritte when he did, would she have riddled Jon with arrows? Or were the former flames about to set their arms down and cast aside their differences? Alas, like Jon Snow, we will never know.

2. Did Pyp and Grenn Have To Die?
No, not really, considering that they don’t die here in the books. In the novels, it’s one-armed blacksmith Donal Noye who loses his life slaying the giant and defending the gate. Both Grenn and Pyp make it out of this initial assault on the Wall alive. But, for the purposes of ...

‘Game Of Thrones’: Is The Wall About To Fall?

by 06/08/14

Put your parkas on: Winter has arrived.

Jon Snow and the rest of the Night’s Watch will finally collide with Mance Rayder’s wildling army on tonight’s episode of “Game of Thrones,” titled “The Watchers on the Wall.” With only 100 brothers in black against an army of thousands, are we about to watch the Wall fall?

Here’s a quick tease of what to expect from tonight’s episode:

It’s All Wall, All The Time
Just as season two’s penultimate episode, “Blackwater,” focused entirely on the conflict between King Joffrey and Stannis Baratheon’s forces in King’s Landing, tonight’s outing will be glued to the Wall.

In other words, we won’t learn anything further about Tyrion’s fate. We won’t find out what’s next for the exiled Jorah Mormont. We won’t find out what’s up with Sansa’s Maleficent outfit.

It’s all Jon Snow, all the time — and it’s about time.

It Will Be Bigger Than “Blackwater”
As explosive as that episode was — literally explosive, thanks to the wildfire attack — “The Watchers on the Wall” has something that “Blackwater” did not: Giants.

Between those massive warriors, not to mention the thousands of other forces at Mance Rayder’s disposal, you can bet that “Watchers on the Wall” will be the biggest episode of “Game of Thrones” yet, at least in terms of size.

There Will Be Blood
War comes at a cost, and tonight will be no different. “Blackwater” lacked major character deaths, but “Watchers on the Wall” is poised to kick things up a notch.

No naming names, but you should prepare for at ...

‘Star Wars’ Watch: Mark Hamill Prepares For ‘Episode VII’

by 06/06/14

Production on “Star Wars: Episode VII” is well underway, but right now, star Mark Hamill is breaking out the lightsaber at other venues.

The star of the original “Star Wars” trilogy is teaming up with Disney as part of the “Star Wars Weekends” initiative, an effort to connect with fans who feel the Force. Hamill hasn’t started filming “Episode VII” yet, but he’s already back in saber-swinging action, with a new ally on his side to boot:

Speaking with the Orlando Sentinel, Hamill opened up about returning to the “Star Wars” universe, playing a much older and wiser Luke Skywalker in J.J. Abrams’ upcoming “Episode VII.”

“In my mind, there was a beginning, and a middle and an end for me and my association with George’s trilogy,” he said. “It was firmly in the past.  When the prequels came out, I watched from a distance, but I was totally fine.”

But when “Episode VII” came along, Hamill said he couldn’t refuse the opportunity to return as Old Man Luke.

“I would have a lot to answer for if I didn’t at least try to make the effort,” he said. “It’s not like I had a choice.”

In returning to Luke, Hamill has had to alter his diet and work out to get back into Sith-fighting shape. He’s also had the luxury of touring wardrobe and the film’s creature shop, as well as reuniting with old pals like Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher.

“It was wonderful to see them again, because ...

Eva Green On Her ‘Not Naked’ But Still Banned ‘Sin City’ Poster

by 06/06/14

Eva Green is front and center in “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For,” co-directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller’s latest adaptation of the Miller-created comic book universe. And when we say “front and center,” we mean “almost naked.”

Green bared it all, or almost all of it, in a recently leaked “Sin City” poster, wearing a translucent nightgown and holding a small revolver in her hand. The poster was banned by the MPAA “for nudity — curve of under breast and dark nipple/areola circle visible through sheer gown.”

It’s not an explanation you hear every day of the week. And it’s not an explanation that makes a whole lot of sense to Green. Speaking with Vanity Fair, Green said she’s heard about the “Sin City” controversy, and she finds it “a bit odd.”

“It seems like it’s all just publicity — a lot of noise of nothing,” she said. “You have so many more violent things in the movie business and this is kind of soft. I’m not naked. It’s suggested.”

In fact, not only does Green think there’s nothing wrong with the poster, she finds it “really sexy, actually.”

“It’s kind of beautiful,” she said. “But if it shocks people, I don’t know what to do about it. I don’t want to upset anybody.”

As Ava Lord, the titular “Dame to Kill For,” Green will upset a whole lot of people when the “Sin City” sequel hits on August 22.

Whacked: ‘Game Of Thrones’ Passes ‘The Sopranos’ As HBO’s Most Watched Show Ever

by 06/06/14

Who is the more ruthless head of household, Tony Soprano or Tywin Lannister? That’s a debate that could take years to resolve — but at least as far as popularity goes, we know who wins the war.

“Game of Thrones” has officially become HBO’s most watched show of all time, with an average of 18.4 million viewers every week throughout its currently airing fourth season. That’s 200,000 more viewers than “The Sopranos” at its all-time high; the James Gandolfini-starring series topped out with 18.2 million viewers in 2002, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The rise of “Thrones” is up four million viewers from its third season, showing steady signs of growth as the show wars on. Looks like all of that head-popping violence has paid off for the Westeros faithful.

Then again, “The Sopranos” pulled off the head-popping trick first.

Are you surprised to see “Thrones” surpass “Sopranos” as HBO’s most-watched series?
