‘Game Of Thrones’ Shocker: These Pics Show Tyrion Meeting [Spoiler] In Season 5

by 12 mins ago

If you thought “Game of Thrones” was making big adjustments to the Cersei and Jaime Lannister storylines, just wait until you get a load of their little brother.

Brace yourselves for some big SPOILERS for “Thrones,” and the “A Song of Ice and Fire” books, beyond Tyrion’s dazzling dance moves:

Still here? OK, but you’ve been warned…

Splash News has posted new photos from the “Thrones” shooting location in Osuna, Spain, revealing some pretty major developments for the so-called “Giant of Lannister” — developments positioned to take both Tyrion and the show further away from George R.R. Martin’s source material with each passing step.

As with Tyrion’s adventures in the books, it appears that the Imp is very much in Essos, as far away from the Wild Wild Westeros as humanly possible. And just like the books, Tyrion has eventually made his way to Meereen.

Unlike the books, however, Tyrion has gotten as far up the food chain as the Mother of Dragons herself — Daenerys Targaryen.

That’s Emilia Clarke and a very bearded Peter Dinklage, sitting one Hizdahr zo Loraq away from side-by-side, as they watch a duel play out in Meereen. That, my friends, is what any “Thrones” fan, book reader and non-reader alike, would describe as a BFD.

As it stands in the books, Tyrion and Daenerys have not come into ...

Doc From ‘Fraggle Rock’ Has Died

by 1 min ago

Sad news today for Fraggle fans everywhere: Gerard Parkes, who played Doc throughout the five-season run of “Fraggle Rock,” has died.

According to what Parkes’ agent Gerry Jordan told The Candian Press, Parkes died of natural causes in a Toronto retirement home, only three days after celebrating his 90th birthday.

fraggle_rock

Born in 1924, Parkes was best known for his role on “Fraggle Rock” as Doc, an optimistic inventor and tinkerer who lived with his trusty sidekick and dog, Sprocket. Doc’s workshop was one of few connecting points to the caves known as Fraggle Rock, though he very rarely interacted with the Fraggles, not learning of their existence until the very end of the series. Gobo Fraggle would frequently sneak into Doc’s workshop to collect postcards sent to him by his uncle Matt, which Doc would regularly throw away, thinking the postcards were sent to the wrong address.

Parkes reprised the role of Doc in the 1987 television special “A Muppet Family Christmas,” interacting with the likes of Fozzie Bear and Kermit the Frog — more interactions than he had with the Fraggles during the entirety of “Fraggle Rock.”

“He was a funny man,” Jordan told The Canadian Press of the late actor. “Many times we would go for lunch and always be interrupted by somebody asking for his autograph. … He loved the attention.”

29 Ways ‘Harry Potter’ Killed Us With Nightmares

by 1 min ago

Harry Potter” can fill you with wonder. It can fill you with hope, and unending optimism that there’s something special in all of us — that we can work together to make this world a better place.

It can also fill you with nightmares. Endless, bone-chilling nightmares.

Whether it’s a brutal death scene, horrific creature design, or just Neville Longbottom dancing forever and ever, “Harry Potter” is brimming with nightmare fuel. Here are some of the reasons “Potter” keep us awake at night.

1. Let’s start with Dementors.

2. DEMENTORS = NIGHTMARE FUEL.

3. Also Professor Quirrell, what with his terrifying doubled-faced Voldemort head.

4. Even Moaning Myrtle brings the nightmare fuel.

5. MOANING MYRTLE = NIGHTMARES.

6. Ron having to “follow the spiders,” also not cool.

7. Even Sirius Black caused nightmares, as seen with his mad mugshot in the Daily Prophet.

8. And his fireplace face in the Gryffindor Common Room.

9. And, of course, his gut-wrenching death.

10. Severus Snape, half-blood prince of all nightmares, especially when wearing Neville Longbottom’s grandmother’s dress.

11. But mostly that time he killed Dumbledore.

12. And also that time he died.

13. Whoops, wrong death scene. Here, this is more like it:

14. Really, all of the deaths, like that time Voldemort was a baby…

15. …and he ordered the death of Cedric Diggory.

16. Or that time Dobby died.

17. Even Voldemort’s death, which was ...

‘Game Of Thrones’ Is Changing One Story In A Big Way For Season 5

by 25 mins ago

As “Game of Thrones” pushes forward into its fifth season, fans can expect even more deviations between the HBO series and the “A Song of Ice and Fire” novels — including a very big change in the Jaime Lannister storyline.

In “A Feast for Crows” and “A Dance with Dragons,” the fourth and fifth books in the series, and a loose template of sorts for the fifth season of “Thrones,” Jaime is tasked with managing his royal family’s soldiers out in the Riverlands of Westeros. But a new video from the “Thrones” set makes it clear that Jaime’s story is in for a big change.

Watch the video for yourself, but be warned: spoilers are ahead.

The video (via Vanity Fair) shows Jaime palling around with Prince Doran Martell of Dorne, a character he very much does not interact with in the books. Indeed, as far as we’ve read, Jaime never winds up in Dorne at all. What he’s doing there on the show — with not just Doran, but also Ellaria Sand, the grieving paramour of the late Red Viper — is anybody’s guess, but it’s another sign that “Thrones” is doing its own thing, and not waiting for George R.R. Martin to finish those books up.

What do you think of the latest “Thrones” change-up?

Nicholas Hoult Explains Why ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ Is Absolutely ‘Insane’

by 20 mins ago

With Reporting by Josh Horowitz

Nicholas Hoult knows a thing or two about post-apocalyptic landscapes. He’s the star of “Young Ones,” a new movie in theaters now about a young man who lives in a near-future world where water is hard to come by, thanks to global warming. He also starred as Beast in “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” working alongside fellow mutants to stop a horrible future from ever coming to pass.

But Holt’s craziest, most insane apocalyptic experience remains ahead of him in the form of “Mad Max: Fury Road.” The fourth film in the “Mad Max” franchise, directed by the legendary George Miller, “Fury Road” has been described as one gigantic chase sequence featuring Tom Hardy as the titular Max, with other visually dazzling characters played by Charlize Theron, among others.

Hoult is one of those dazzling characters, delivering a virtually unrecognizable turn as a war-mongering maniac named Nux. He’s bald, with jagged lips, and an insatiable thirst for adrenaline written all over his face. Watching Hoult in this new role should certainly be a shock for fans — just as it was for Hoult himself.

“I’ve seen a rough cut,” he told us. “I was just sitting there, going like, ‘Whoa.’”

Hoult confirmed that there’s very little dialogue in “Fury Road,” and that when he sat down to read the script for the first time, it was more like reading “a 300-page comic book, technically.”

“You have the odd word, but the dialogue, it’s strange, the words they used,” ...

‘Walking Dead’: 7 Questions About The Hungriest ‘Strangers’ We’ve Ever Met

by 1 min ago

So, cannibalism. That’s a thing that’s happening.

On the latest episode of “The Walking Dead,” titled “Strangers,” beloved Bob’s foot got caught in the mouths of some ferociously hungry hunters — the leftover Terminus survivors, as led by Gareth. It was a twisted ending for what was an otherwise relatively uplifting hour of “Walking Dead,” complete with the arrival of a brand-new character.

Hours after the episode aired, here’s what we’re still wondering about how it all went down:

1. So, Is That It For Bob?

bob

Not that there isn’t precedent for one-legged survivors thriving in the zombie apocalypse. Yes, Hershel died, but not because of his physical handicap. If Bob returns to the group before losing any other major body parts, he could recover from his situation. But that’s a big if. Gareth and his pals look pretty hungry. Don’t be surprised if they’re all finished eating Bob burgers by the time the next episode airs.

2. Why Was Bob Outside?
That’s a fair question. Why did Bob leave the church? After the group decides to travel on to Washington, Bob steps outside and looks at Father Gabriel’s church with mixed emotions on his face — joy, sorrow, you name it. He goes through the gamut. What’s up with you, Bob? Why are you out and about on your own, being such a weirdo, letting yourself get captured?

3. What’s Father Gabriel’s Deal?

The biggest creepshow of the night is not even one of the cannibals. That distinction belongs ...

‘Walking Dead’: What Will Happen When Rick Meets ‘Strangers’?

by 2 mins ago

Here’s what we know about tonight’s episode of “Walking Dead“: It’s called “Strangers,” it’s written by series creator Robert Kirkman, and it comes hot on the heels of one of the show’s very best episodes. No pressure!

With the Rick Grimes gang reunited and back on the road, there’s no telling where “Walking Dead” will go tonight. But we have some guesses about what we will (and won’t) see…

1. The group will meet this guy:

AMC

That’s Seth Gilliam of “The Wire” fame, joining fellow ex-Baltimoreans Chad Coleman (Tyreese) and Lawrence Gilliard Jr. (Bob) in the zombie apocalypse. On “The Walking Dead,” he plays Father Gabriel Stokes, a preacher man introduced right around this same point in the comic books. He’s… controversial.

2. The group will set their sites on Washington.
Abraham still has to fill Rick in on Eugene’s plan about how to utilize D.C. resources in stopping the zombie apocalypse. But once Rick has that information, the choice will be clear: Washington’s the next stop on this very bad road trip.

3. Michonne’s sword will remain MIA.

AMC

At least, Michonne herself won’t get her hands on her iconic weapon. A preview image for tonight’s episode (pictured above) shows Michonne walking with an automatic rifle in her hand, but no sign of the katana. It looks like Michonne’s sword will be among the many victims of Terminus. Unless…

4. Gareth has Michonne’s sword!
That would be one way to reintroduce Michonne’s blade back into the mix. There’s no way ...

7 ‘Game Of Thrones’ Flashbacks We Need To See Next Season

by 20 mins ago

It’s confirmed: “Game of Thrones” is going back to the past.

The fifth season of HBO’s fantasy series will feature flashbacks, for the first time ever, as confirmed by show runners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. “By making the first season, we set a rule: No prophecies, dreams or flashbacks,” they told film students in Spain during a recent Q&A (via EW). “We failed the first two and this season the third. So yes, this season will finally have flashbacks.”

That’s great news, because there’s so much of Westeros’ history that we want to see on-screen — and characters we want to revisit. Here are seven of the flashbacks we’re dying to see.

1. When Cersei Met Maggy

Cersei LannisterHBO

Well, this one’s happening. Rumors persist that the “Game of Thrones” premiere’s flashback scene will center on young Cersei’s prophetic encounter with a woman called Maggy the Frog, who offers an ominous tease of Cersei’s future. No spoilers, but it doesn’t sound so good for the Queen Regent of Westeros.

2. The Tower of Joy

Eddard StarkHBO

Eddard Stark’s battle against Ser Arthur Dayne and other members of the Targaryen-appointed Kingsguard stands out as one of the most fan-favorite moments in Westeros lore. Theories suggest that the battle ends with the birth of one of our beloved characters, too; a flashback could confirm or deny those theories. Plus, who could say no to a visit from Sean Bean?

3. The Battle of the Trident

Robert BaratheonHBO

There’s so ...

‘Walking Dead’ Recruits ‘American Horror Story’ Star For Season Five

by 7 mins ago

With Rick Grimes and company back on the road, it’s time to meet some new faces. Up first: Someone with some serious “Horror” experience.

The Hollywood Reporter has the news that “American Horror Story” veteran Alexandra Breckenridge is joining the cast of “The Walking Dead” for its currently airing fifth season. Breckenridge appeared on the first season of “AHS” as the young, seductive Murder House ghost who you may recall from scenes like this:

And this:

And this:

Will she pull those same moves on Rick, Daryl Dixon or any of the other traveling survivors? Here’s what we know about Breckenridge’s character so far: Casting breakdowns call her “Samantha,” and describe her as “an attractive, strong, smart, charming and articulate woman with a vulnerable side. She’s a mother with a bohemian spirit, and a talented artist.”

THR notes that the character’s name and some of the details are likely to change between the breakdown and the show, so who’s to say what this “Samantha” is really all about. But it sounds like she’s important: Breckenridge is recurring throughout season five, and has an option to be promoted to series regular in season six.

What do you make of the new “Walking Dead” cast member?

Jennifer Lawrence Returns Home In New ‘Mockingjay’ Trailer

by 10 mins ago

There’s no place like home — especially for Katniss Everdeen.

The “Hunger Games” champion returns to District 12 for the first time since leaving for the “Catching Fire” Quarter Quell, in a brand new trailer for November’s “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1.” She does not like what she sees.

As revealed at the end of “Catching Fire,” District 12 is no more, leveled to the ground in retaliation for the rebellion’s rescue of Katniss and other ex-champs from the Quarter Quell arena — nothing short of a declaration of war, in the eyes of the Capitol and President Snow. Now, Katniss needs to step up and become the face of the rebellion, but there are concerns about her ability to perform.

“She won’t be able to handle it,” says rebel leader Alma Coin, played by Julianne Moore. “The games destroyed her.”

“No one else can do this but her,” implores Plutarch Heavensbee, played by the late Philip Seymour Hoffman. “We need to make it personal for her.”

To that end, they send Katniss back to District 12, or what’s left of it. She walks through the ruins of her old home, all the way to her old house in Victors’ Village. There, she finds a few personal items — her favorite jacket, a picture of her late father — as well as one small glimmer of hope: a single, undamaged white rose, lost in a bouquet of dead flowers. Perhaps it’s all the inspiration she needs to keep going.

Jennifer ...
