There are a lot of questions about Ridley Scott’s “Prometheus 2.” Is it happening? When is it happening? What will it be about?
Actress Noomi Rapace, who plays the lone surviving scientist Elizabeth Shaw in the first “Prometheus,” shares these questions. In fact, in her mind, that’s the whole point of the sequel: Questions, and frustration.
“I feel like I’m sharing her curiosity and also her anger,” Rapace told MTV UK in a recent interview. “She can’t go back to Earth. There’s nothing left for her, really. She wants to go back to where she came from — these giant creatures. In her head, that’s the dark paradise, in a way. So, what’s there? I don’t know. I think she wants answers. She wants to know.”
Those answers will not include the xenomorphs from the original “Alien” series, teased at the very end of “Prometheus.” Ridley Scott made it clear that those aliens won’t appear in the continuing “Prometheus” story.
But to hear Rapace tell it, you might not even miss the xenomorphs — because instead of those acid-bleeding monsters, Shaw could square off against a much higher power. As in, the higher power.
“God, maybe — or the devil,” Rapace said when asked what the villains of the “Prometheus” sequel could be. “I can’t wait to go there. I don’t know what we’re going to discover.”
“Prometheus 2″ is currently rumored for a March 2016 release.
