‘MythBusters’ Loses Three Cast Members

by 37 mins ago

“MythBusters” surprised audiences with the announcement that Kari Byron, Tory Belleci and Grant Imahara will leave the hit Discovery Channel show ahead of its 10th season.

“It is not only the end of this episode, it’s not only the end of this season, it’s the end of an era,” host Adam Savage said at the end of the final episode of the show’s ninth season.

The show will return for a tenth season with only Savage and Jamie Hyneman hosting.

The trio of Belleci, Byron and Imahara all took to Twitter to say their goodbyes, with Byron making mention of a “new direction” for the show.

Belleci, Byron and Imahara made up three-fifths of the show’s cast, completed by Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman. During the show, the team would conduct experiments to bust or prove so-called myths, educating about science in a manner both informed and funny.

“Kari, Tory and Grant have been an incredibly important part of MythBusters for over a decade,” Discovery said in a statement. “From explosions to car crashes to even more explosions, this trio has helped shape MythBusters into the Emmy-nominated series it is today. Everyone at Discovery wants to thank them for their tireless work busting almost 1,000 myths, and we wish them all the best on their future endeavors.”

Let The Cast And Creators Of ‘Intruders’ Introduce You To The Show

by 24 mins ago

We get the feeling a new show is going to intrude on your DVR sometime very soon. Tomorrow, in fact.

“Intruders,” a new offering from BBC America, premieres Saturday, and we get the feeling it’ll be just as addictive as the network’s other popular offerings. Mira Sorvino and John Simm Star in the thriller, which examines the idea of past lives and multiple lives simultaneously existing in one body. That’s not even to mention the quest for immortality that some of the characters embark upon.

Uh, what? It’s a tricky concept! There’s no one better to explain the show’s premise than its stars and creators, so while MTV News was at San Diego Comic-Con, we did just that.

As star Sorvino told us, “it’s really cool.”

Check out the clip above.

“Intruders” premieres Saturday on BBC America at 10 p.m.

Lena Dunham Is Terrible At Riding A Bike In This ‘Girls’ Season 4 Tease

by 9 mins ago

We’ve never been so excited to see someone eat sh** on a bicycle.

HBO today posted a teaser video taunting us with the fact that “Girls,” the show that your mom totally thinks is about your life and it really isn’t except when it kind of is, is in production for its fourth season.

Lena Dunham, our best friend star and creator of the show, pops out of a cute house that we maybe think could be in Iowa (remember the acceptance letter that ended season three?) and onto an equally cute bike, before promptly tipping over. Because, like, duh. At least she was wearing an adorable pink helmet.

The video doesn’t drop a premiere date for season four yet (cry, cry, cry), only the vague “2015,” but it did share the url for a nifty production diary tumblr comprised of instragrams and tweets from the set of the show.

We can’t wait. And, Lena, if you need someone to help you figure out that whole bike sitch, you know who to call.

Don’t Stand In The Middle Of Fireworks Unless You Have This Suit

by 27 mins ago

We all love fireworks and it’s a universal truth that the Fourth of July is just the best, so riddle me this: how is it that we’ve gotten to 2014 and we still can’t just stand right in the middle of a fireworks display?

The answer is this: HAHAHAHA WE CAN. We so can.

Or at least inventor Colin Furze can. Dude made himself a steel suit that A) looks very silly but, B) allows him to stand, unharmed, smack dab in the center of a bunch of rockets and nonsense going off.

I can’t stress this enough: please don’t try this at home. But I’m also so, so glad that Furze did.

And, hey, if I had a goofy steel fireworks suit, I would totally make a video of myself standing in it set to rock music too. But I don’t have one, and neither do you, so you’ll just have to settle for watching Furze’s video.

The Reviews Are In: Should You Stay For ‘If I Stay’?

by 18 mins ago

Every day is full of little decisions. Hair up or down? Red or blue? Black or white? Cream or milk? To “If I Stay” or not “If I Stay”?

We can’t help you with those first few (though blue does look really nice on you), but we may be of service for the last one. Chloe Grace Moretz’s latest big-screen turn, “If I Stay,” opens this weekend, and it looks like a real tear-jerker. Adapted from the young adult book of the same name by Gayle Forman, the plot follows Mia (Moretz) after a devastating accident that tears her family apart. In a coma and on the brink of death, an out-of-body version of herself looking in on present events, Mia must decide whether to stay. Yes, she’s deciding whether she’ll live or die.

The reviews for the movie are in. Let’s hear what top critics have to say about “If I Stay.”

More Moretz, Please
“Chloe Grace Moretz, the teenage girl in question. She has been good in ‘Kick-Ass’ and ‘Let Me In’ and even the remake of ‘Carrie’ (though the movie wasn’t much). If you have to watch someone weep her way through a movie, she’s as good a choice as anyone…Moretz is good throughout, bringing authentic feeling to sometimes inauthentic situations.” – Bill Goodykoontz, Arizona Republic

Music To Their Ears
“Lots of musical names are dropped — Yo Yo Ma, Iggy Pop, Debbie Harry and The Ramones — as if the film is trying to establish some serious cred. Mostly ...

An Angry Doll Is Coming To Murder You In The ‘Annabelle’ Trailer

by 21 mins ago

If you were just sitting there thinking that what your Thursday was really missing was a terrifying doll, congrats! Your day is now complete.

There’s a new trailer for “Annabelle,” the doll-centric spin-off of the horrifyingly successful horror movie “The Conjuring.” The movie appears to be about a doll whose talents include a. being enormous, b. setting fires with her mind? and c. turning into a blood-covered ghost of a lady who seems to be generally displeased with her lot in life.

Oh, and we forgot to mention the baby safety-related terrors within as well. Hot tip: When your house has doors that tend to close on their own with psychopathic ghosts on the other side, never leave your child unattended in another room.

Clear the immediate area of all playthings and infants before watching the trailer below.

“Annabelle” hits theaters October 10.

‘Harry Potter’ Alum To Direct Spin-Off ‘Fantastic Beasts’

by 16 mins ago

When Warner Bros. needed to find a fantastic director for the studio’s upcoming “Harry Potter” spin-off feature, “Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them,” execs knew just where to find them. In fact, if a report in Variety pans out, they didn’t need to look any further than the already-released “Harry Potter” movies.

David Yates, who directed four movies in the franchise, including the final two “Deathly Hallows” installments, is reportedly in negotiations to direct the first installment of the spin-off series.

Yates is currently filming “Tarzan” with star Alexander Skarsgard.

The first movie in the “Fantastic Beasts” trilogy, which will focus on the life and adventures of magizoologist Newt Scamander (the author of the Hogwarts textbook that the trilogy takes its name from), is set for a November 18, 2016 release. J.K. Rowling, author of the “Harry Potter” series and the separately released “Fantastic Beasts” textbook, will write the screenplay. The film will be shot at the same studios just outside London that housed the sets for the original “Harry Potter” films.

Rowling has clarified that the series will be set nearly a century before Harry, Hermione and Ron set foot in Hogwarts, and will begin in New York City.

“Although it will be set in the worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for 17 years, ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the ‘Harry Potter’ series, but an extension of the wizarding world,” ...

At the Emmy Awards this Monday, it was announced that actor Billy Crystal will present a tribute to Robin Williams during the annual In Memoriam segment of the show, while musicial Sara Bareilles performs. Bryan Singer Got A Tattoo, And Patrick Stewart Was There To Supervise

by 18 mins ago

We don’t know if getting fresh ink necessarily makes you a mutant, but it certainly counts as a commemoration of high-performing mutants.

Bryan Singer, director of “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” got new ink at the Shamrock Social Club in Hollywood, CA recently to celebrate the movie passing $700 million at the box office. To make it even better, yeah, it would seem that it’s a tat of the X-Men X. To make it evern more betterer, Sir Patrick Stewart, who plays Professor X in the movie, supervised the tattooing process.

Singer posted an instagram of the momentous occasion:

The tattooing madness doesn’t stop there either. A thorough investigation of Singer’s instagram (all 16 posts) shows that his assistant got an X to mark the spot — “the spot” is $500 million box office — as well, as part of a bet. It would also seem that screenwriter Simon Kinberg is part of the bet, so keep an eye on those calves as well.

Who’s next? We’re tempted to buy tickets until we find out who the X tat’s next victim is.
