Of Course Taylor Swift And Jeff Bridges Jammed On The Set Of ‘The Giver’

by 2 mins ago

Taylor Swift’s role in “The Giver” may have been a small one, but that doesn’t mean she didn’t leave her mark on the cast. In an interview with MTV News, Jeff Bridges, who produced and starred in the film, described Swift’s professionalism and willingness to bond with the cast.

“That first day, she was right on the money and ready to play,” he said. “She was wonderful to work with.”

Not to mention the time between takes.

“We got to pick a little bit between set-ups,” he said.

And, no, there isn’t video out there of Swift and Bridges duetting on “I Almost Do” (or is there? If there is, please let it show itself soon). The singer didn’t play her own songs.

Check out the interview above to find out what Bridges and Swift played on-set.

“The Giver” hits theaters tomorrow, August 15.

27 Facts That Prove Emma Watson Is Magic For Real

by 9 mins ago

First things first, let’s make it clear that we’re fully and totally aware that the “Harry Potter” books are fictional. J.K. Rowling made them up! The movies that are based on the books are also made up.

That said, we think that Emma Watson might actually be magic for real. No, really! She’s fantastic. If she was starring in the new “Potter” spin-off, it would have to be called “Fantastic Emma Watsons and Where To Find Them.” In fact, we may just take that idea for ourselves. Because, guys: she’s great.

Ahead, 27 things that make us totally obsessed with Emma Watson and support our theory that she’s actually magic.

1. She literally laughs in the face of sexism.

A United Nations Women’s ambassador, Watson posted this defiant instagram in response to a Turkish politician forbidding women from laughing in public.

2. She withstood Hurricane JLaw.

That’s not a facesmash a mere mortal could survive.

3. But is too classy to pretend she’s her.

4. She went to college even though she never has to do anything she ever doesn’t want to do.

And finished.

5. Yes, she’s actually super smart.

“Everyone’s taking the piss at me because I did really well at my exams,” Watson told IGN on the set of “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.” “It’s been a bit of an ongoing joke the past couple of weeks, but I think it’s a compliment.”

6. She’s environmentally conscious.

Pour The White Russians, Jeff Bridges Is Open To A ‘Big Lebowski’ Sequel

by 23 mins ago

As The Dude says, never say never.

Or at least, we think that’s what Jeff Bridges was trying to say when asked by MTV News about the possibility of a sequel or television adaptation of the Coen brothers’ cult classic “The Big Lebowski.”

Noting that it was “a rare day when there’s not a ‘The Dude abides!’” from a fan spotting him, Bridges didn’t necessarily say that he’d return to the fan-favorite role… But he didn’t say no either.

“Whatever [the Coen brothers] are interested in, I’m interested in,” Bridges said in an interview promoting the upcoming “The Giver,” which he starred in and produced.

Let’s just hope that the TV adaptation of “Fargo” keeps doing really, really well, right?

Oh, and, duh: The Dude abides!

Chloe Grace Moretz Mouths Off In ‘Laggies’ Poster

by 11 mins ago

If there’s one thing we can take from the new poster for “Laggies,” the romantic comedy starring Keira Knightley, Chloe Grace Moretz and Sam Rockwell, it’s that the leads are all apt to mouth off.

Laggies_5D_7_1sht_fin8 theaterframeA24

Get it? Because you can’t see any of their mouths on the poster. Har har.

Actually, despite the lack of mouthiness on the poster, we’re pretty sure the characters in this movie will be plenty sassy, considering Moretz plays a teen, while Knightley portrays a sort of arrested development pseudo-teen who is just trying to Figure It All Out. And, you know, sometimes Figuring It All Out involves buying an underage girl beer, making friends with her, and hooking up with her dad. Sometimes!

Check out the poster above, and watch the previously released trailer for the movie.

“Laggies” hits theaters October 24.

Shocked Hollywood Mourns Robin Williams

by 2 mins ago

The world was stunned by the news Monday evening (August 11) of the passing of beloved actor and comedian Robin Williams. The 63-year-old was found in his Tiburon, California, home after an apparent suicide.

Williams’ decades-spanning body of work, which included numerous TV, movie, radio and stage roles, won him fans and friends of all ages in all corners of the world. Some had loved him since they heard his voice come out of a big, blue, wish-granting genie in Disney’s animated classic “Aladdin,” while others were charmed from his first “nanu nanu” as Mork. Still others were drawn in by any of his dozens of other credits.

Friends and fans alike flocked to social media to pay their respects and share their memories of Williams as the news spread. Everyone, it seems, has a story or parting wish to share for the Oscar winner.

President Barack Obama

“Robin Williams was an airman, a doctor, a genie, a nanny, a president, a professor, a bangarang Peter Pan, and everything in between. But he was one of a kind. He arrived in our lives as an alien – but he ended up touching every element of the human spirit. He made us laugh. He made us cry. He gave his immeasurable talent freely and generously to those who needed it most – from our troops stationed abroad to the marginalized on our own streets. The Obama family offers our condolences to Robin’s family, his friends, and everyone who found their voice and ...

‘Vampire Academy’ Filmmakers Turn To IndieGoGo, Fans For A Sequel: Exclusive

by 12 mins ago

Are you ready to remember just how much high school sucked again? Good, because now you have a chance to help make a sequel to this year’s “Vampire Academy” a reality.

The producers behind the first film are this week launching an IndieGoGo campaign to raise money for “Frostbite: A Vampire Academy Film.” If fans contribute $1.5 million, the financial backers will be convinced that there’s enough fan demand for the movie and fund the rest of the production cost.

The campaign launches this Wednesday, August 6.

Producer Mike Preger said that the decision to move forward with the crowdfunding campaign was totally motivated by the fans.

“The fans mean everything to us,” he said in an email to MTV News. “We decided to move forward with ‘Frostbite’ because of the fans, and we want to give them the purest book to film adaptation possible. We have a script by Piers Ashworth [screenwriter of "St. Trinian's"] that does just that. We want to give them exactly what they expect.”

Producer Deepak Nayar agreed, and said that fans so wanted a sequel that they had actually suggested turning to crowdfunding.

“Our financiers were willing to move forward ONLY if we could show them the fans would support us,” Nayar said. “It’s not an exaggeration to say that we would not be here without them.”

If the goal is met, pre-production will begin late this year, the film will shoot in early 2015, and the finished product will hit theaters in late 2015. “Frostbite” will follow Rose ...

Chris Pratt Predicts Next Year’s Top Halloween Costume

by 25 mins ago

With reporting by Josh Horowitz

Even if you weren’t super familiar with “Guardians of the Galaxy” before its release (we have a chart for that, if that’s you) we’re pretty sure you have a new favorite talking, machine gun-wielding raccoon in your life: Rocket.

Voiced by Bradley Cooper, the little rodent travels space being generally badass and helping Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill and his fellow Guardians. And guess what? Even Pratt told MTV News that Rocket is the bomb.

“I think there are going to be a lot of people dressed up as Rocket this Halloween, a lot of kids,” Pratt said.

“This is CG unlike anything that I’ve ever seen before, it’s so real,” he continued. “This thing, as funny as it is to have a little talking raccoon with a machine gun running around being an a-hole, what really carries you through is the dramatic reality that there’s nothing else in the universe like him.”

To hear more of Pratt’s thoughts on Rocket, check out the clip above.

“Guardians of the Galaxy” is in theaters now.

Rob Zombie, Nathan Fillion And More ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Cameos, Revealed

by 36 mins ago

With reporting by Josh Horowitz

Movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe are known for their Easter eggs, in-jokes and cameos, and the studio’s latest offering, “Guardians of the Galaxy,” is no exception.

MTV News caught up with James Gunn, who wrote and directed the movie, to get the scoop on any familiar faces — or voices — we might catch in deep space. It should come as no surprise that there are several of them.

You’ll have to watch the interview clip above to find out exactly who, but we will spoil one for you: Captain Hammer himself, Nathan Fillion.

“He’s a monstrous inmate,” Gunn said. “He’s the CGI creature who tries to, shall we say, give some tender loving to Peter Quill and then is ripped apart by Groot.”

Tsk, tsk, Nathan.

The museum curated by Benicio Del Toro’s flamboyant Collector is not only a treasure trove of oddities, but also of winks to the audience, according to Gunn.

“We’ve got everything in that museum. The entire history of the Marvel Universe is in the Collector’s Museum,” he said.

“Guardians of the Galaxy” is in theaters now.

‘Warcraft’ Comic-Con Teaser Gives Us All The Kings And Monsters We Could Ever Need

by 1 hour ago

Duncan Jones, director of “Warcraft,” made a return to San Diego Comic-Con’s Hall H for the second year in a row. Last year, he popped out at the Legendary panel to show off concept art and announce that “Warcraft” was happening. This year, he had a bit more to show, having finished filming only two months ago. The movie, featuring all kinds of non-humans and crazy magic, will require a large amount of post-production wizardry.

“It is such a technical challenge,” Jones said of the film.

Nonetheless, Jones was able to deliver a short tease of the film, featuring quick shots of kings and warriors of both the human and orc varieties, while dramatic voiceovers framed the conflict the movie will depict.

“Our home is destroyed, there is nothing to go back to,” one intoned, while another asked, “Is war the only answer?”

This one is going to be epic, we can already tell.

To tide us over until the teaser footage hits the web, Legendary released a brand new motion logo for the film. Check it out below.

“Warcraft” will hit theaters March 11, 2016.

Here’s Where You Can Find ‘Mockingjay’ At San Diego Comic-Con

by 21 mins ago

When the sumber-jumbo-mega Hall H panels for this year’s San Diego Comic-Con were announced and Lionsgate — and therefore “Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1″ — was missing from the list, fannish draws dropped everywhere. Pardon us? How would we get our fix of Jennifer Lawrence across like a dozen enormous screens? What would we smugly tweet about, if not the first screening of some super VIP-exclusive-top secret footage or first trailer for the film?

As it turns out, “Mockingjay” will be swooping into this year’s Comic-Con, just not necessarily Hall H. The big ticket is, of course, the unveiling of the trailer, which is happening in partnership with Samsung. On Friday, those attending SDCC will be able to view the brand new trailer on a Galaxy Tab S in the Samsung Capitol Lounge. (If you’re not at Comic-Con, don’t fret — on Saturday and Sunday, select Best Buys will be joining in on the trailer-viewing fun, offering visitors the chance to take a look at the clip on Samsung devices.)

That’s not the only place you’ll catch the Girl On Fire in San Diego. In addition to the inevitable Katnisses running astray on the convention hall floor — arrows and all — Lionsgate will also be offering a special Comic-Con only poster. It’s all stark and Ralph Steadman-looking and we’re kind of really into it:

The-Hunger-Games-Mockingjay-Comic-Con-Poster-550x814

It was designed by WK Interact, and it makes us shiver and hear that little four-note Mockingjay call. Right? Right. Insert ...
