by 06/06/14

Since life isn’t like the movies, we all just have to settle for getting those romantic lines tattooed permanently on our bodies. What is love, after all, but a permanent mark? We think we heard someone say that in a movie once, at least.

Ahead, check out 11 tattoo interpretations of some of our favorite romantic movie quotes.

Who Wore The Robot Suit Best? Tom Cruise Vs. Matt Damon

by 06/06/14

In the battle of robotic body armors, the field is really narrowed to only two worthy contenders: Cruise versus Damon.

Last year, Matt Damon screwed an iPod into the back of his head and drilled robo-body armor into his back in “Elysium.” He had to basically outrun cancer, and robot legs helped him to do that. Also: guns.

This weekend, Tom Cruise suits up for battle in “Edge of Tomorrow” in a quest to, well, save mankind. Guns are also useful for that.

The real question on our minds is, of course, who wore it best? Does Cruise’s fully operational cruiser take the cake, or do Damon’s screwy armor plates win? Check it out, and vote in the poll below.

6 Things You Never Knew About ‘Ghostbusters’

by 06/05/14

Beloved comedy “Ghostbusters” celebrates its 30th anniversary of its release on June 8, and Vanity Fair has marked the occasion with a big, behind the scenes feature that every die-hard fan has jumped on. The filmmakers and actors dished on the secret scoop of the cult favorite. No matter how many times you’ve seen the infinitely quotable movie, however, there’s always something new to learn.

Ahead, the six most surprising things we learned about “Ghostbusters.”

The Slimer Is Based On John Belushi
Dan Aykroyd was originally writing the film for himself and “Saturday Night Live” buddy John Belushi to star in, but midway through the writing process, Belushi died of a heroin overdose.

He does make an appearance in the final film — kinda. The Slimer, Akyroyd said, was based on “John’s body. I will admit to having an inspiration along those lines.”

Sigourney Weaver’s Character Was Model Material
Love interest Dana, played by Sigourney Weaver, was originally written as a model, but became a musician at Weaver’s suggestion.

“She could be kind of uptight and a bit strict, but you know she has a soul because she plays the cello,” Weaver said.

Bill Murray Will Turn Your World Upside-Down…Literally.
Weaver recalled her first meeting in New York with Murray, saying it was somewhat symbolic.

“I went over and I introduced myself and he said, ‘Hello, Susan,’” she said. “[Then] he picked me up and put me over his shoulder and walked down the block with me. . . . It was a great metaphor ...

Nat Wolff Almost Played Gus In ‘The Fault In Our Stars’

by 06/05/14

Reporting by Josh Horowitz.

Though after “The Fault In Our Stars” opens tomorrow (June 6) Ansel Elgort and Shailene Woodley will be forever cemented in fans’ minds as Augustus Waters and Hazel Grace Lancaster, the movie could have very easily ended up looking totally different. Nat Wolff, who plays Gus’s blind BFF Isaac in the movie, actually did a full screen test and audition for the role of Gus.

Playing Isaac, he told MTV News, didn’t even occur to him while he was auditioning.

“I hadn’t really been thinking about that role, and once I got it, I was like, ‘This is a deep role,’ ” he said.

To research the role, he met blind people to see how they acted and how they felt about not being able to see. In the end, he loved that Isaac was a funny character, “but there was an edge to him, to his reality.”

The 8 Shailene Woodliest Shailene Woodley Quotes

by 06/04/14

Shailene Woodley is everywhere these days, from leading the “Divergent” franchise to wearing a cannula and making millions of people cry in “The Fault In Our Stars,” which debuts in theaters this weekend on June 6.

Woodley isn’t just a movie star, though: she’s also an eccentric who’s been compared to America’s BFF, Jennifer Lawrence. And, much like our beloved J-Law, Woodley has a few….eccentricities.

From sunning her vagina to making out with her brother, here are the eight Shailene Woodliest Shailene Woodley quotes ever quoted by Shailene Woodley.

On her curves, and losing some of them in “Divergent” prep: “My boobs shrank. No one tells you that when you lose weight. No bra, no problem.”

On Brie Larson: “We have a primal connection.”

On her morning ritual: ” The second I wake up, I scream very loudly, “Good morning! Good morning!” And then I scream out, ‘Exciting day! Exciting day!’ I feel like it completely sets the mood for the whole day.”

On hugging: “You have only 30 seconds with a new person. I will give you a hug so you know I’m real, and then you’re real too.”

‘The Giver’ Trailer: Now That’s More Like It

by 06/04/14

The Dude abides, but now he abides over books and all the knowledge of extreme pain and extreme joy in the closed community he lives in.

Jeff Bridges stars as the titular character in “The Giver,” the upcoming adaptation of Lois Lowry’s classic Newbury Prize-winning novel. In this, the third trailer for the movie, the action is mostly in black and white, contributing to the feeling of restriction and oppressive sameness represented in the book.

See, poor Jonas (Brenton Thwaites) lives in a place simply known as the Community, a friendly neighborhood where everything is black and white and anything different is forcibly shunned. Jonas takes daily injections to moderate his mind and dull any of the urges he has to take risks or reject his surroundings — until he meets the Giver and stops taking them. See, Jonas is to be the Receiver, the next keeper of memory and knowledge in the Community. With its privileges — what the heck is happening to that apple? Oh, it’s red — come painful truths, like what exactly happens to those citizens who dare to be different.

Oh, and he also finds out what Meryl Streep is like when she’s really, really pissed.

Check out the new trailer above.

“The Giver” hits theaters August 15.

‘Insurgent’ Casts Four’s Mom In ‘Divergent’ Sequels

by 06/04/14

Warning: Major spoilers for “Insurgent” and “Divergent” ahead.

She fought a creepy little ghost girl in “The Ring,” and now she’s fighting a war in post-Apocalyptic Chicago. Naomi Watts has been cast as Evelyn, the leader of the Factionless and, shhhhhh, the long-lost mother of Four (Theo James), according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Insurgent,” the sequel to “Divergent” and the second in the planned quartet based on Veronica Roth’s bestselling Young Adult series, began shooting last week in Atlanta. Watts’ character, Evelyn, features heavily in the three remaining installments of the series.

Evelyn is the toughened leader of the Factionless, having escaped a life with the abusive Marcus (Ray Stevenson), a leader of the Abnegation faction and father of Four, a member of Dauntless. After the Dauntless’ brains are hijacked by a chemical developed by the Erudite, led by Janine Matthews (Kate Winslet), the faction system is collapsing and on the brink of war.

Of course, it should be exciting to see Four discover that his mother didn’t die in childbirth when he was a kid, as he was told, but has instead been hovering on the periphery of his life this entire time, waiting for her moment to strike the faction system in its very heart.

Watts joins new additions Suki Waterhouse and Jonny Weston in the cast, as well as returning stars Shailene Woodley, James, Winslet and others.

“Insurgent” is due in theaters March 20, 2015.

Watch The ‘Fault In Our Stars’ Scene The Director Was Most Nervous About

by 06/03/14

We’ve already swooned all over Ansel Elgort’s impromptu tap-dancing performance on last night’s “Tonight Show,” but we have not even talked about the clip from “The Fault In Our Stars” that he introduced on the show as well.

The clip is actually something of an important scene for the story: Isaac (Nat Wolff) has just been dumped by his long-term girlfriend, while Hazel (Shailene Woodley) and Gus (Elgort) are just beginning their own friendship. While the two of them discuss Hazel’s favorite book, “An Imperial Affliction,” Isaac rages in the background, destroying Gus’s unloved basketball trophies. Pain, as it turns out, demands to be felt.

“The Fault In Our Stars” director Josh Boone also admitted to MTV News that this was the scene he was most nervous about getting right on-screen, lest he invoke the ire of fans of the John Green novel from which the movie is adapted.

“I was terrified,” Boone said of the scene. “I didn’t know if it was gonna work, I didn’t know if it was gonna be too big. I just didn’t know if we were going to be able to pay enough attention to what they were talking about, which was important, at the same time as he was breaking all these trophies.”

It also contains what Boone said was his favorite line of improv from Wolff: “He holds up the really, really big trophy and to Gus is like, ‘yo, Gus, can I –’ and Gus is like, ‘yeah,’ and he just throws it down like ...

It’s RoboCop Day In Detroit. Yes, Really

by 06/03/14

Dreams really can come true, folks, especially when those dreams involve an entire day devoted to RoboCop in a major metro area. (Dream big.)

Yes, today is Robocop Day in Detroit, thanks to a Kickstarter funding project (taglined “Part man, part machine, all crowd funded,” of course) to build a statue of the 1987 crime-fighting robohero in the city.

Of course, it doesn’t hurt that today is also the DVD release date for the recent remake of “RoboCop,” either.

Detroit cops will be present and honored at the unveiling of the statue, after which fans will have a chance to take pictures with RoboCop, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. Later tonight, RoboCop will throw out the first pitch at the Detroit Tigers-Toronto Blue Jays game at Comerica Park.

Let’s see if he can beat 50 Cent’s wild toss, shall we?

Stay out of trouble, everyone.
